Re: My compliments to the folks at Eminence
Great timing for Eminence! Thumbs up to them!
I remember the time just before they launched the Legend serie. Hifi style speaker intended for guitar use. THey always felt off the track with their designs, however they had great manufacturing facilites, which significantly reduces the price, the main reason why Crate, Peavey and Fender used their speakers. Moreover, they are located in USA.
A while ago, when they first came up with the Legend serie, they grabbed the attention. The best bang-for-buck for a british style speaker is the GB12, a GREAT speaker believe me, still is, it doest have the MOJO of a real celestion, but featuring the well-known Kurt Mueller cone.
Then, recently, exactly when Celestion started moving their facilities to China, BAM! came the Patriot and RedCoat series. Now THAT IS one of the best timing/move Ive seen recently. Great move. And great speakers too. Well-thought designs, finely tuned, and affordable speakers. I havent tried any of those, but only heard great comments so far. I doubt they missed the point this time!
We already had WeberVST as a fine speakers manufacturer in USA, but Eminence has a different market target.
WeberVST is filling the need for boutique-made speakers, built for vintage enthusiasts. However, I'm pretty sure that a certain part of their selection will drop in sales, but that's part of the game! More and more, companies need to focus on a very particular market/customer. They cant "do it all" anymore.
