My crappy CV strat got an overhaul...

Re: My crappy CV strat got an overhaul...

Well, it certainly LOOKS great, if it plays great then I see no reason why one would knock it for being cheap. See my sig :)

Re: My crappy CV strat got an overhaul...

Haha it is just me calling it cheap thing.... Now it sounded good from the get go, not anywhere near my cs Beck, but that is not a comparisson that has any meaning.
After the hardware and electronics upgrade it became even more fun to play....I like how it is now...it wants to be played, which always has been the main thing :)

Vasshu -
Why do you not like yout LSR, I ask because mine works better than a tusq bridge I had cut by a pro I very much admire and his work has always been top notch-building, electronics- the whole shebang! Seriously, I very much would like to know. Sound is one issue, that I cannot argue as bone is well liked for it's sound. But I am more interested in the ability of the bone to stay in tune better. Does your bone nut stay in tune better?
Would love to hear from you on this-thanks,
Steve Buffington

Re: My crappy CV strat got an overhaul...

I did not say that I did not like the LSR.......I am just lazy(all 'that' routing ;) ) , and cutting a bone nut is routine work for me, and I am pretty good at getting them to stay in tune as well....
Have wrestled with strats since my now long gone youth.

The Beck stays pretty well in tune, but then again the whole guitar is on another level quality wise, plus I use good strings.....
One other thing about tune troubles are soft necks, if a neck is not stiff enough, the guitar will never stay well in tune....no amount of locknuts sauce, special locks will cure that problem.

Fortunally the neck is pretty good on the CV strat, usually those things are not very stable.
