This guitar is being built for me by a guy named Doug Kauer out of Sacramento, CA.

What do you think of it?

He also makes Firebird copies, and will have that model available for righties in an assortment of colors....

Other than being backwards it looks awesome! Enjoy that thing.

I was gonna say "OH MY GOD HE GLUED THE NECK ON WRONG!!!!!"

Yeah...a bit different.
I know this is probably more appealing to a lot of traditionalists out there....(who like normal guitars! Hahahahaha..)

OMG that looks beautiful.
The coloring is just perfect, the only thing I'd change is the headstock. It should be black or have a veneer of the same maple that the top is (same finish also) and the 3+3 arrangement looks wrong. But anyway, that is like complaining about the lack of a cup holder in a Mustang.

I like the wood and the colour.
Is the clear acrylic or poly?

Fresh lacquer....:naughty:

The first generation he made had a black headstock....TBH I kind of like the colored one better. (and it may be slightly mismatched...I personally picked that top out over other pieces he had...and it was easily the darkest one.)

On the electronics setup, those 2 volumes are going to be push/pull for tone...and I asked to have the selector switch near the bridge since I like to do an Ace Frehley thing with it every now and then...

SEXY!

Fender Jag meets PRS. Love the 3/3 headstock, and the colour suits the body (looks a bit trans, even). Don't particularly care for the wave tough (would look better if symetrical or a bit more extreme in its angle).

So jealous! What pups are going in there?

Yeah...it's definitely different. Sound-wise it comes in 2 flavors...there's a full solid body (sounds pretty much like a Les Paul) that tops in at around 9 pounds, and a semi-hollow/chambered model that weighs in between 7-8 pounds...that one's a chambered...and ergonomically I think it's going to be great for when I've gotta do 4-5 sets in a night. (One thing I never liked about Les Pauls....your picking arm will rub up but good on that guitar...the last time I took out the 12lb custom I caught a nice little rash...and it's so bloody heavy I only take it out for special gigs. the main guitar is a Studio with actives that weighs under 8lbs.)

Pickups?

Umm......well....

They're gonna be....

WB Firewaters

Re: My Custom guitar is almost done!

I like it. It would really look killer if it were reversed....like if you took that exact guitar and played it right handed.

Re: My Custom guitar is almost done!

Even better if chambered, always thought they'd make great guitars like that.

Don't know those specific pups. You can talk about all kinds of brands here, you just can't speak ill (unjustifiably) of SD competitors.

As far as WB goes....Will Boggs is a private winder out of Redding, CA. Nice guy...he really makes some neat stuff.

I actually met him. I am not a pickup expert by any means...just a customer. But he took some time out for me, talked to me about pickups and what not....he let me shoot this vid while I was up there...(hope this works..)

Private winders make neat stuff...don't get me wrong...but I still like Seymour Duncan a lot because there's something to be said about off the shelf pickups. There really is...

Thanks for the kind comments, guys! Hopefully here in the next week or two I'll be able to post some pics up of the guitar when it's finished....:)
