My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

Stupid digitech Digidelay seems to have died. I'll look at it eventually. In the meantime, I need something to replace it with. I had been looking at the G sharp my TC electronics. Cheap and seems good. I need something that can sit at my amp and have a long corded pedal controller or something small enough to fit on my pedal board. I do not want to run power cords for anything on my pedal board. Midi is welcomed as a controller. Give me ideas. I can't go much over 200$.

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

I don't think it will work out the way you want it to. Multieffects are pretty expensive when you want good tone. I mean you could get a Boss ME-50 since it's technically not a bad unit and should be in your price range but it sucks lots of tone and other cheaper units i tried so far had the same problem. Only multi-fx that didn't sucks as much tone was imo the GT-6/8 and the G Major. Those units are killer and saving up a little more might be worth it.
But before going multi you should really ask yourself if you wouldn't rather prefer fewer effects and go single pedal. Single pedals will let you mix&match something you can't do with multis. If one effect isn't for you you can't just swap it out with something you like more.

+1

Had a Guitar POD XT Live for a while, and it worked for what it was worth, but after selling it and going for single effects, I dont think i will going back to multi-effects anytime soon.

As far as multi effects go, I haven't checked the market lately so I can't help much there, but for what the POD was worth, I liked it. A little more expensive than it should be though in case of the guitar pod.

If a pedal worked right for your needs before, and if you want something under $200, and you want a means to control it via the pedal board, and you don't want something that needs a powercord, then why not just buy another pedal ?

It fits every one of your requirments

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

Ibanez DE-7...inexpensive, easy to use and sounds good.

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

Line6 Echo Park

Stereo in and out, tape, digital and analog emulations along with dotted 8th, sweep delay, slapback, multitaps, swell, reverse etc, a great tap tempo and a price of only $109

Basically 90% of whats in the DL4 minus the preset recall for only 33% of the price

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

for delay in a pedal, nothing beats a yamaha magicstomp in pure sound quality.
only catch is that it doesn't have tap tempo or a expression pedal.

But it's rack quality effects in a pedal. i couldnt believe it when i heard this little box.
Also, i just found out that allan holdsworth uses 4 magicstomps in his live rig.

check it out. they can be had for less than 100 on ebay.

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

I like the ME-50 but it's $300 :(

Plus it has that annoying half-second or so of silence in between switching patches...

Hey Jacob... I'm confused. Are you looking for a pedal, a multieffects pedal, a rackmount delay, or a rackmount multifx?

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

Hmmm... did you get yours recently? Maybe they fixed it.

I said that because: 1) it's not that long a delay (it's barely noticeable, maybe 1/10th second), and 2) only when you have two very complex patches you're switching to/from (to be fair, it's one of those conditions where if you had the same effects setups in individual stomps, you'd have to stomp like 4 pedals at the same time). I don't encounter a noticeable delay like this during use. The ME-50 is a single COSM engine multieffects, so it's not got a ton of computing power behind it like, say, a GT-8.

The ME-50 isn't for everyone, and sadly it isn't in his price range unless he gets one that's used.

Okay so Boss hasn't fixed anything then... some people don't mind that small dropout, some people do. I can't stand it and to me it's not acceptable in a multieffects unit. a short delay in switching over? I could live with that if I really had to, but not what the Boss does.

I used to have a GT5 that got me decent effects, no delay/kill between presets, and cost about $250 used. Maybe he oughta look for one of those?

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

I was looking for anything. Thing is I need a Delay and Chorus and I've always used multi's cept for the digitech because it did both. What I think I'll do is get a great Boss delay and then an ibanez chorus.

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

You may like the Line 6 Echo Park better then a BOSS delay and there are heaps of good choruses that you can find cheap from the EHX nano clone to second hand CE-3's and some cheaper boutiquey stuff.

Ah, I see. If I was in your position I'd choose a Boss dd-20 for the delay (my favorite) and I'd probably use a CH-1 Super Chorus for the chorus or maybe an old CE-2 if i could find one. I remember i did have an Ibanez cs-9 once, and it was a cool sounding pedal.

I take that back. The time I induced it was something like this: lead distortion + tremolo (set at a high rate to sound like a speaker breakup) + delay + arena ("MOD") reverb TO like Tube Screamer + tremolo (short delay) + delay + compressor. In a stomp box setup, you'd have to have two different tremolo pedals, so you'd stomp one to shut it off and another to turn it on, then stomp one distortion pedal to shut it off while another to turn it on, then turn on a compressor. That's not easy to do in a stomp box setup.

And since I've never had to switch to/from anything like that complex in a single song, I never get it. If this was Black Hole Sun, I could switch from rotary clean to metal distortion without a break in sound (but you'd want to mute the strings anyways because you don't want the arpeggios bleeding into the distortion). If this was a stereotypical Rush song, I could easily play chorus + delay + room echo from the bridge of my guitar, and for the solo switch to lead distortion with same echo and shut off chorus, with one stomp, and not get a delay.

I apologize if I sound argumentative, but this is my favorite pedal, and I don't get the delay in actual use. Sure, with the factory memory locations you might, but they went a little too heavy on the effects on some of them, so I usually ignore people who claim this mainly because in real life it don't happen. Even then, I can't figure out what songs I play where I want the strings to keep ringing while I switch patches. From clean to distortion, usually I pause for a second. I'll try it with like a crunch to a lead sound tonight and see if I can induce it, but in real life I don't get this, and even then, I stomp first, adjust second (i.e. stomp pedal, then switch to bridge if I need, then find where the solo starts on the neck, so it's like 1/4 second for all this anyways).

Interesting... i remember when i tried it there was a patch delay no matter WHAT was switched over. Maybe Boss DID fix something... i dunno. At any rate I use single pedals. :D

No worries, you didn't sound argumentative at all. I actually do like the way the ME50 control layout is set up and the sounds are pretty good.

Re: My delay pedal died, I need a good multi effects pedal

It might not be for everybody, but the Boss DD-20 has nice delay and built-in chorus for one of the settings. 2 birds with 1 stone... unless you don't like Boss.
