My Dime tone attempt

Re: My Dime tone attempt

A bit less saturated than Dime, but thats probably for the best. Sounds killer.

Never seen that make of guitar, I think I like it better than the Razorback. Or at least after seeing the Razorback for so long, I like this one more because its a bit different.

Re: My Dime tone attempt

That's an excellent tone. I think if you rolled off the bass and rolled to treble a smidge more up you'll absolutely nail it, though the tone you have now is fuller and more useful than that razor-sharp Dime sound. Frankly, Dime's tone probably came from post production EQ too.

Thank you so much :)
I designed the guitar inspired by the Razorback. I have a luthier friend who make it for me

Thank you :)
And thanks for the suggestion. Dime himself said that he won't get his tone from the amp alone, so he need some equipment to help him get what he wanted. Like MXR doubler, and two equalizers.

Thank you so much,,still can't be close enough, but I really like this sound and make it my own :D

Re: My Dime tone attempt

BUGGER . . . now i want a Randal of some sorts too :D

If you like tube tones I will suggest the Diavlo series. They a full tubes amp with a very good price. Ranges from 1 watt to 100 watt. I own the 5 watts, and the 20 watts.
Sounds very sweet, and crushing. :)
If you like solid state, go for RG series. And if you like Hybrid, this T2HL is the beast. too bad it's discontinued, but amazon and ebay still have it :)

Re: My Dime tone attempt

Now, the real question, how did you record it?

Just using two mic at the same time. Two Shure SM 57.
I double tracked it so it creates 4 layers. panned 2 right, and two left.
And that's just it. No effects at all.
The real secret behind it is the picking hand. You should angle your palm at some certain position to get the desired chunk :)
