I've been checkin' it out on youtube, on the bogner site...I can't imagine a more perfect amp.

If any of you guys know of any drawbacks please chime in.

Other than the $3000+ price tag of course.

For EL-34 amps, it's the end of the road....as far as you can go toward versatility and tone, sounding like a roomful of great amps wrapped into one head.

The drawbacks are the price tag and the sheer amount of volume the amp dishes out. It's a great amp, more than capable of being dialed down to reasonable volume, but at 120W it's a monster.....like any 100W Marshall. When it's used in that environment, with a loud drummer on a big stage, it's unbeatable for tone, but when scaled back you'll feel like you're forcing a racehorse to trot along slowly.

It is the only amp I'd consider selling off most of my gear for. I'd sell my Splawn and Marshall to pick one up. I haven't completely ruled that out, but I like where I am at right now.

.................I'm right there with you. I love the Splawn but it might have to go one day due to XTC-GAS

I've never even touched one, but two out of the three best guitar tones I've ever heard live came out of Bogners.

Gearjoneser's pretty right on here... it's an expensive amp BUT this thing is so good on all channels and can have so many different sounds dialed in on it that it's almost like having 2-3 amps anyways. I paid $2550 for mine.

And yes, it is WAY loud when played full up. Even through my Marshall 2x12 on 5 the volume is devastating when I have it set to full power. The good thing is that it's probably the most controllable high-wattage amp I've ever played. The 1/2 power and old-new switches when used in conjunction can take me down to 25W but you sacrifice some of the boldness and response of the amp. It doesn't sound BAD, just different.

I was surprised to see one in stock at a local guitar shop a few days ago. I purposefully avoided plugging into it because I knew it would mean an immediate dent in my bank account.

Its one of my dream amps also - the last one on my list, I have the rest of my dream amps. I am in no rush. I have a Stiletto Duece and I am very happy with it, but I am aware that it sounds a bit different than an XTC. Someday, when the right one comes along......
