My EBMM / EVH Wolfgang Clone

I don't know what pickups that my best friend put in that guitar years ago when he was alive? They both look like Dimarzio Super Distortion's to me?

I don't trust myself taking the pickups out of the guitar for fear of messing something up and I don't want to lose the Tone!! Speaking of tone, it didn't seem like the tone pot was working at all?? Guessing I'll have to save up money to find someone to carefully remove the pickups and see what they are and what the wiring scheme is too and make sure all of it is documented and high quality pictures taken. I do want to get a new EVH D-Tuna in Chrome and get it installed on the Wolfgang copy guitar.

The Wolfgang guitar is noisy as hell but running both those pedals at the same time probably didn't help matters either LOL!! Here's a post I also put up back in 2014 on the guitar:

And here are some pics of my I just took yesterday before playing it through the Marshall DSL20CR Rig as it's been a long time!!

Why pay someone when you can do it yourself? When you're changing strings, just unscrew the pickups. And as for the wiring, unscrew the backplate and check the wiring yourself. It's not rocket science.

Measure the height of the pickups first, so you can be sure to return them to the height that they are at. It is just 2 screws per pickup- it is more difficult to change 1 string than to look at the back of a pickup, and you'll feel good about doing it yourself. This is a forum full of fierce DIY'ers, so we can walk you through this.

One thing to consider though is that the pickups are wood mount, so I would bet that they might not actually be Super Distortion just on account of the thicker magnet making them too tall to install in my Wolfgang. That's not saying it's impossible they are Super D's, just that you should take them out and look at them.

There's a video of a guy from Duncan swapping over a pickup on a Floyd Rose guitar in under 2 minutes or something like that? He'd drop the Floyd with one hand and replace the pickup with the other, takes some practice and coordination, but with extra care that's how I do it when I don't feel like changing the strings.
