IMG_2588.jpgIMG_2589.jpgDear Seymour Duncan Fans ,

Just wanted to share my experience on Mixing 2 types of magnets in one pickup , I used A5 And A8 for my SH6-B which I installed in the neck position , as it was better than the SH-6N , Much Clearer and Tighter , See the attached pics for the A5 A8 Mix. The sound is pretty amazing , the lows are crystal clear with the A5 and the highs are very balanced with no mid spikes just pretty damn Good , I will try to make a demo soon.

Also I ordered Alnico 9 , Alnico 4 , from Addiction FX , and will post my review as soon as I receive them. Cheers Mates :)

Were the magnets charged when you cut and join'em?

Yes They Were. Can't Wait to try the A4/A9 Hybrid For the Neck position , Have you tried the A9 before , how does it compare to the beloved A8?

Cool! I once tried an a8 bar magnet and a5 slugs. epic combination. in that pickup anyway.

I don't know what would the final outcome would be, as in the junction point there's a flux-repelling direct point on each side, located under the space between both central strings.

Look for volume drop and/or comb-filtering in the neck p'up when bending the 3rd and 4th strings.

HTH,

I'm kinda intrigued by the A9 myself & I've also got one on the way. I want to try it and a A8 in my Nazgul, I'm not sure what I'll end up with but we'll see I guess???

Yes that did happen for the first 5 minutes and then gone , plays normal now on both middle strings.

That's interesting.

I have pickups with 2 magnets in them, like the Mojotone Black Magic set that has an alnico and a ceramic. But that has an alnico bar in the regular position and a ceramic on the outside of the poles. Two magnets like this in the OP, next to each other and occupying the same area in such as way is a neat concept. I'll be looking forward to hearing more about how it turns out.
