No they are not slow!
Your brain does not know how and where to put them automaticly!So you need to teach yourself the right points and the right movement!I am not fast either ,but i am getting faster evryday ,and this is my way to solve the problems.I analize the problem.find the real problem.and solve it!
you need to
a)mostly change the way you hold the guitar
b)you need to change the way how you press yout thumb to the board
c)you have to learn finger lighter than now
d)you need different scales ,samll runs to "teach" your brain where to get wich sound and melody.and you need to teach your hand to use the right finger on the right fret.
e)and finaly ,you have to learn as many chords as possible ,and play them as single notes (arpeggios).That is the most beautifull way to fill different chords.

daemon barbeque thanx, that seem that it will help a lot. sadly i only kno one "run", the pentantonic. i dont know how to construct arpeggios. do i just mess around with the chord (played as single notes) until i find something neat? hehe. im a noob. up the ass. lol

Major scales all have the same basic pattern. The pattern for a 2 octave scale:
3-5-6 <-- B
2-3-5 <-- G
2-3-5 <-- D
1-3-5 <-- A
1-3-5 <-- Low E (start here)
Learn that pattern and you can move it anywhere on the fretboard and still be playing a major scale. Scales are just patterns. I don't remember the pattern for the major scale (sorry) but that's the major one.

all those chord tabs will help you build arpeggios.There are many people here who are better than me in Music Theory!
i would say.The best beginning are the chromatic scales.'cos all fingers have to work ,they have to stay close (wich gives you a lighter touch and better control) and it pushes you to use different finger combinations.Some classic music can help you very well.
Don't forget to stay away from easy stuff addiction
Buy "the rock discipline" from Petrucci (really cool training ,stretching and phrasing ideas)
And the most important thing is to "play" with love and joy.This will help you to create your own style.Once you have your own style ,the notes and the phrases that you use more will get faster and easier to vary!
Keep rockin' bro ,and try to record as much as possible.This will push you to play perfect .You can "search" the clips from NUNOSLASH.and you can hear and see yourself how he developed his style and made hardf things easier!

Start slow with a metranome and slowly increase the speed. Learn your strengths and weaknesses use both to your advantage. Look at Django Reigheart for example, he only had movement in 2 fingers on his left hand.

Don't worry.
Speed will come S-L-O-W-L-Y as you develop strength and dexterity in your hands. In the mean time concentrate on playing some tasty licks. You can also practice hammer on pull off licks.
