My first Gibbo

Hey guys

My 21st birthday is in February. But I had a friend coming from the US to South Africa, so organised myself a present now, which will soon be locked away until then :'(

2007 Gibson 1958 Reissue VOS. Pretty much stock at the moment. Very little wear, slightly faded but I was going to fade it anyway, there is some bleed in places. It's tough to take pics cause they always show up a little more red than it actually is. The first pic is pretty close to the actual colour. Basically, definitely one of the top 3 guitars I have ever played. Maybe it's the honeymoon phase, maybe it's this huge neck, I dunno, but yea such a big jump from the Epi's, I can't believe.

Re: My first Gibbo

That's a very classy, classic looking LP congrats... what a birthday present! Now go put it away until you're old enough!! lol

Re: My first Gibbo

At the risk of upsetting/provoking blueman_335, if a Gibson VOS did not feel like a big jump up from an MIK/MIC Epiphone, you would have every right to be hugely disappointed.

That is one tastefully understated guitar. Enjoy.

Ooohhhh, let me!

"It's not the skillet; it's the cook."

"Somewhere out there is a kid with an Epiphone who can outplay you, so don't bother having a nice guitar. You'll only embarrass yourself."

"When you go out to play your local bar gigs (because everyone on this forum plays local bar gigs just like I do), you don't want to take a nice guitar, because it could get stolen, it could get damaged, and the bar patrons don't care what guitar you have. They just want to drink, hear music, and sexually assault the Jodie Foster character on a pinball machine."

How am I doing?

:joke:

You know we love ya, Blue!

Re: My first Gibbo

Beautiful guitars and yes the VOS guitars are truly special...Standard LP's are a cut or 2 above the best Epi's but the Historic/VOS guitars leave even the best of the best Standards in the dirt!

I love the colour and I must say, thats a hell of a way to walk into the Gibson world for the first time!

I have an 05 I bought new and if you're is anything like mine you'll have it for a long time to come...I can't imagine doing a gig or session w/o my R8!

Re: My first Gibbo

I know I posted in this thread already, but do you know how cool that guitar is gonna be when you are 51, and get to say that it has been in gigs with you for the last 30 years.

Re: My first Gibbo

certainly not my favourite finish but I'm sure it's an awesome guitar. Congrats anyway !

Re: My first Gibbo

Way to jump right into the heart of a great Gibson! After playing Epiphones for years, a Gibson is just worlds apart (when you get one of the God ones, that is).
