Doesn't Gibson use a Corian nut? Its some kind of bone substitute from what I've read. Maybe its that? Or maybe its just because its a freaking Les Paul. Probably some combination of both.

Re: My first Gibbo

I would love it, and stroke it, and name it George.

Very nice... congrats! Play the hell out of it! Gig with it! Don't hide it away in a closet!

I don't like anything that either is sunburst or that makes me think of sunburst goes for tabacco bursts as well). It's just that I saw really too much of these. Ironically, the LP I'm gassing is black ^^

No seriously, these guitars are the shizz, but if it had been mine I would have chosen another finish, that's all. You seem to be happy with it, that's all that matters when talking about your guitar.

Have fun ^^ !

Re: My first Gibbo

MikeM, that thing is... blowing my moind. among other things
it took me 2 days to type this.
jimmy page either had or has a guitar like that, which i believe was one of his main recording guitars.

EDIT - in my opinion, that's the perfect gibson LP classic/standard

Slight update, went to a jam yesterday and compared this to a Tokai which I'd be able to afford locally. I personally have always thought them overhyped and yep, my guitar blew it out the water even with stock pups vs pg and 59n.

Still super happy and love how it looks!

Of course it blew the Tokai out of the water. It's a '58 reissue!! Hell, it would probably blow my Classic Pluses out of the water.;)

Re: My first Gibbo

Hehehe yep that's always been my opinion but locally Gibson is bashed like mad and everyone thinks Tokai is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm just glad I have no doubts about it now!

Meh....I've never listened to those people. Most of the time those people are just parrots repeating what they've read on the internet, and haven't even really played any Gibsons.

Re: My first Gibbo

That's exactly the case man. Gibson pulled out of SA a good 5 or so years ago. The Tokais are priced about half as much as the equivalent Gibbos, but I'm sure they're half the guitars now. The difference was night and day. Love this thing so much :D all I need now is a Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret.

Re: My first Gibbo

I like the 58s for their understated plaintops. If I ever buy another Les Paul it'll probably be one of those or a 57.

Re: My first Gibbo

Pure AWESOME. NEVER get rid of that for any reason. PLAY it until you bleed. If you touch anything on that - make sure it is ONLY to relace the pups with Antiquities, Seth's or PG's. And ONLY in double cream.

Take those finger stabber rings off immediately, but DO NOT lose them!

Just beautiful.
