My First Project Guitar - A Fender Telecaster with Seymour Duncan Pickups

Hey there folks,

I picked up a Fender Special Edition Deluxe Ash Telecaster Maple Fret board Butterscotch Blonde over Labor Day, and I wanted the forum's opinion/suggestions on the modifications I have planned.

Currently, the plan is to swap out the neck pickup for Seymour Duncan's quarter pound tele (STR-3), and replace the bridge pickup with the Duncan Custom Trembucker (TB-5).

I'm not sure which pots or capacitors to use. Should I use the 250K or 500K CTS pots? And should I be using 0.047uF and 0.001uF or 2 022uF Orange Drop caps?

Welcome to the forum!

With the pickups you described, I'd be tempted to use 500k pots and .047uf caps. This will leave you with clarity, but also with the ability to roll down the top end a bit if needed.

I forgot to post a picture of my finished guitar. I freaking love this thing! I've considered swapping in the Hot Rails Tele neck pickup STHR-1N just to match the output of the trembucker, but I love the classic lipstick pickup look.

Looks great! I can’t find a photo now, but when I was still at university and tuning my first guitar, as well as working with a service that can do my homework (so that I had more time for the guitar , I made a similar design, so I reacted to it. Super!

Wow, very cool pic! I bet the Custom Shop could build a Hot Rails inside of a standard Tele neck pickup case...
