My first try at recording some (FLOYD) clips

I recently got from a friend a m-audio fast track pro and a shure sm 58 to try since finally i managed to get a new PC and i am planning to buy a new soundcard and mic for recording....so before i buy i had to try and see how everything works together. I am a complete novice with recording techniques, let alone mic placement e.t.c so what i did is i just installed everything, put the mic in front of my fender HRD and gave it a try using adobe audition....Here are the clips:

Any advice regarding recording (or even playing.... :-) :) )techniques (in a home environment) will be welcome.....especially regarding mic placement, settings, tips e.t.c......

Since i recorded everything as i said with a shure sm58 (which is a vocal mic as i have been said) i was proposed with the shure SM57 or the Sennheiser E606.....which one should i choose?
