My first Warmoth custom guitar!!! (Opposite of EVH Frankenstrat)

There it is; pretty much everything I want in a guitar. This is pretty much the opposite of what EVH did with his guitar, attempting to make a Gibson/Fender hybrid. The only things I would change would be to have a separate volume and tone for each pickup, and a route for a Les Paul-style pickup selector, both weren't options on the Warmoth guitar builder page.

Specs (top to bottom):
Grover Locking Rotomatic Tuners
Graph Tech TUSQ XL Nut
Tiltback headstock neck (gunstock finish)
25.5" Scale length
10"-16" Compound radius
24 6100 Stainless steel frets
DiMarzio Cruiser (Neck)
Lace Sensor Hot Gold "Hot Bridge" (Bridge)
Master Volume, 2 Tones
3-way toggle switch
Gotoh Tune-O-Matic Bridge (recessed)
String-through construction
Schaller Locking Tuners
Poplar body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard (didn't care about the wood)

The only thing that's bugging me is the input jack. The connection cuts when I screw it on (probably the solder joints), so it's just dangling for now. I'm having too much fun to actually make it gig-ready yet.

yea.. not crazy about some of their pot/switch orientations.. if i had the funds to get a warmoth body/neck at the time.. i would see if they can route the control cavity but ill decide on the placement/and do the drilling

Don'tcha hate it when you're having so much fun that you don't wanna put it down to finish it?

Congrats! :fing2:

Did you brush the paint on? Looks smooth, hehe

I do like it tho. If it was mine it would have a fullsize humbucker bridge but i guess that's the point of difference here. Cool stuff.

I actually made a thread about that about a month ago (https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?310266-Gloss-Paint-Matte-Finish-Freezing-temperatures-This). I didn't realize the paint and finish I was using used different contrasting chemicals, and the result is an alligator'd finish (apparently, I'm lucky the paint didn't just chip off). It doesn't show up well on this picture, but the guitar looks a lot better in real life. It looks like ice, with little hexagonal cracks in it. It's not bad overall, perhaps I should've stuck with my original idea: stain the body blue, and use gun stock finish. Well, that's what I get for being cheap and not just pay the extra $250/$300 for a professional paint job from Warmoth. I could always just strip the paint off if I get bored of it, or if I really cared about the finish. I'm more about functionality than appearance.

I'm sure most people would've put a humbucker in the bridge, but I'm in love with the tone of that Lace Sensor. It bites, cuts through a mix, and it has very little hum compared to a traditional single coil. I play metal, and that pickup is great for gritty rhythm playing, and it sounds good with some softened EQ and delay for solos. As far as I know, it's almost imposible to find a 2/3 single coil guitar with 24 frets.

I also forgot to mention the contouring, which I did all 3: Tummy, arm, and neck pocket.

Enjoy your guitar. When you like your axe like you do it makes playing more enjoyable and more proficient.

Funny thing, I originally wanted all the hardware to be white and chrome, but when I ordered my pickup from Lace, they sent me a black pickup instead the white one I chose. Not a big deal, though.
