My first YouTube "Agnus Dei"

Reload in 5

Just Ultimate Slacker
Heres the band I am in doing Agnus Dei as done by Third Day.
This was for Sunday morning worship.
The lights and all were still there from the childrens choir musical, not set up for us. Though we did use them.
Recorded using my camcorder. Excuse the vocals, hes trying to cover both parts we normally do, as our female singer was out of town.

Re: My first YouTube "Agnus Dei"

Good job! Is that you playing the lead guitar? If so, you got most of Brad's notes and tone down pretty well.

Are you doing it in C (as Third Day did)? Wondering, because we are planning to do this on Easter, and I think I'll move it back down to A, where it was originally written, because I think it would be easier for the congregation to sing.

But then I noticed your congregation wasn't singing. Was this a special? Or do they always just sit like that?

Also, I liked your move into another song - we are planning to go into the chorus of Awesome God - also in A (or rather F#m).

Anyway, thank for sharing

Re: My first YouTube "Agnus Dei"

I am playing lead. tried to cover the most noticable parts.
This is a preset I made on my digitech rp200 (found from someone else on digitech community site)
We are doing it in C, this was actually done on senior Sunday (high school, not old people)
We did a full set (mostly a little lighter stuff), congregation was standing for the rest. that was "kind of" a special. Works a lot better with the youth, they sing loud enough.

Oh yeah, direct to PA also.

sounds close to the original, nice direct tone

I agree - it sounds very close to the Third Day version. However, that is not the original - which was recorded by the songwriter Michael W. Smith in 1990 - in the key of A. Third Day did a remarkable cover in the key of C (which Reload is covering) - produced by Michael W. Smith for a compilation CD they did for Rocketown Records in 1998 called "Exodus". (Brad tells a story of playing that lead line with Michael sitting just a few feet from him in the studio. He was little nervous, but Michael seemed to like it.)

A lot of useless information - I guess - but I believe in giving credit to your sources. For our version, we will be playing the song as Third Day did, but in the same key as MWS (key of A) because Mac's range is higher than the average congregational member. I try to keep the highest note to a D or E. I think this song in C would get up to a G.

All in all Reload's band did an admirable job and I'm glad I got to hear it.
