My friend bought a Dark Terror head

We played it through my 212 with Cannabis Rex speakers. Then, last night he brought it to the jam he hosts, and I played it through a pair of Emi GB 12 speakers. Fuggin' fire breathing monster is what it is.

I haven't gassed for an amp in a looong time.

Damn it.

I've heard a lot of good comments about the DT's tone. Never played one myself, but maybe one of these days.

You'd probably like the Tiny Terror even more. It's a bit less metal, and probably more suited to your style. It's amazing how much range those Orange lunchbox amps have with only 3 knobs.

They sure do cover any type of tone I could ever want. The DT gave me enough gain for soloing with the gain and volume both on 4-5 on the dials. Really touch sensitive for my style, especially with the semi-hollow guitars I prefer. The TT has to be in the 6-7 range for the same gain.

BTW my friend's home made lap steel guitar sounded AMAZING through it. So much growl.

Re: My friend bought a Dark Terror head

And the C-Rex is a loud speaker with a lot of mid response.

Re: My friend bought a Dark Terror head

The DT sounds awesome..really killer little amp. Some folk find it over fizzy...but not me. I love it's tone. Everytime I have GAS for one I end up with something else though, for some reason :laugh2:

It is, and that plus the DT's mids made for a killer tone. With the shape control left of center, the sound really fattens up and the highs get smoother. To the right it makes the mids scoop, the highs crank, and the amp goes into metal land. The Tiny Terror has similar mids, but with a regular tone control. The mids are killer on both amps.
