My friend has really sweat palms - part II

Re: My friend has really sweat palms - part II

Rory Gallagher was like that too... He had a lot of alkaline in his sweat... By the way, the green stuff is organic material that has rotted... So its skin and oil all over that guitar...

So you may want to soak all that stuff to sanitize it first.

No.

Green is the color of oxidized copper. All chrome or gold plated metal parts on a guitar have copper on them. Copper is plated onto the metal before chrome plating. Cheap parts have very thin chrome plating so they are corroded through very quickly.

I've never seen anyone who cares so little for the tools of his trade! Carpenters take better care of their hammers. What does his car look like?! Has the floor rotted out yet causing him to drag his feet on the ground as he drives? Wow, that would be pure Flintstones.

Re: My friend has really sweat palms - part II

Wait a minute...he wants to SELL it?!!

I wouldn't give him five bucks for it. The only way it would be worth it for him to sell it is if he stole it in the first place.

Re: My friend has really sweat palms - part II

Thank goodness it's only an Epiphone.

I feel for this guy, he got the losing hand in the genetic lottery as far as alkaline sweat goes...lacquered maple fretboards might protect the fingerboard from his sweat and hardware/electronics can be replaced... poor guy! : (

On a positive note, he won't have to deal with string squeaks with his perpetually wet hands. He'd probably destroy a phosphor bronze set within a night or two... would make for a great acoustic recording artist though!

Re: My friend has really sweat palms - part II

I have a friend who also corrodes guitar parts. It helped spot a stolen one years later and he got it back in part to Duncan board members.

Good luck on the sale and I can not wait to seethe cleaned guitar.

Re: My friend has really sweat palms - part II

yeah it's humid here in Vietnam but his hands are something else.
also I'm almost finished cleaning the damn thing, I'll post pictures of the transformation soon lol

That's even worse, the humidity allow the bacteria to grow and keep rotting away. That's nasty!

Re: My friend has really sweat palms - part II

I hope he wears gloves when he goes for a wizz..... Could be nasty.

If it were there, it would be worth close to a billion bucks, but alas, no. ^
