my friend needs opinions

this guy i know from school recorded this at my house and asked me if i could host, post, and get opinions(apparently, his computer is messed up at the moment) it was a rough recording, but i think you can tell how good he is. he told me to post this as well:

Hello,
I have been playing for about a year and 6 months, and have recently gotten into playing solos and such. Please, leave your comments, and tell me if my skills are developing at a good pace. Sorry for the iffy recording, I didn't have much time to record this. I'm using an ibanex SZ series guitar through a cheapy amp, thank you.

Sounds pretty good for 1 1/2 years.

Work on some vibrato with that left hand.
Think "melody" before speed (I need to do this too).
Try to play clean, where you can hear everything.
Learn some other styles outside of rock.

it sounds alright, doesnt really flow and theres no personality, ive been playin about the same amount of time as you....what do i know? check out my music in the link below
