I've been recovering, since Wednesday, from some serious dental surgery, and decided to take the afternoon off. Swung by my fav guitar store, and they were just unloading my new Generation from the truck. :32:

Anyway, right out of the box - it was awful. Actually came with rusty strings and the frets are "not shiny". Don't know how else to say it. They're not really rusty, or corroded, just rough and in need of polishing. (But thats another thread.)
This is the first guitar I've ever owned that needed set-up. The strings buzzed real bad, and the bridge was all wrong. Fortunately, it came with the two little allen wrenches that were needed, so I put some new Ernie Ball 10's on it and proceeded to adjust stuff. Took about 2 hours to get everything dialed in right, but once done, it was a whole new animal.
The neck is a little thinner than what I normally like, but still usable. The guitar is fairly heavy, but I like that. It feels nice and solid. Other than the frets needing polishing they were all great . . . except one. For some reason, there's just one end, of one fret that sticks out past the edge just enough that you can feel it. I may let a "pro" handle that. Its not bad, but it definitely is noticable. I really like the creme binding that runs around the edge. Gives the guitar a classy feel for its price. The tuners feel nice and smooth and work great. The 3-ply pickguard is neatly trimmed. Really, everything about the guitar is nice except for the aforementioned frets and set-up.
The pickups are about what you'ld expect. Not bad, but nothing particularly noteworthy either. The neck and middle have that Stratty chime that you'ld expect. The only thing I didn't expect was that the bridge humbucker doesn't sound like a humbucker at all. At least, not what I'm used to. Its got a very bright, jangly sound, where I normally expect a HB to be more mellow. The two best positions are the #2 and #4 positions. Bridge with middle, and neck with middle. But thats more or less a moot point, 'cause now its time to order the "rails". :laugh2:
Anyway, bottom line is, for $166 bucks, this is a nice solid guitar. A couple of minor tweaks and some p'ups, and this thing should rock. I may post some "stock" clips. Maybe not. I'll definitely re-review it once its "Duncanized".
Just one last thing - there is one little annoyance on the whole guitar. The output jack is placed exactly where the guitar would sit on a stand. If I don't find some alternative way to support this thing, I give it a week before I bust the output jack. :smack:
