Re: My Gibson Gem *gasp* and my Gretsch G5222 for sale!
Well, it's being sold w/o pickups & the factory routes are all messed up... it needs a new bridge, has "substantial" fret wear, tons of dings, dents & finish checking...
I mean, you've got to admit that it's not in the best of condition.
If you've got someone offering close to what you want go get it!
As a body blank, it's just not worth that much to me...
Does need a new bridge. lol I don't know where you keep coming up with "substantial fret wear," these frets are A) the nicest frets I've ever played on, B) not worn and C) the exact frets I'm having subsequent guitars refretted with.
There are dings, no dents, some finish chipped off in places, and a whole ton of checking. To me - and some other people - checking actually raises the value of a guitar. I'm willing to pay far more for a well checked guitar than a basic one.
The factory routes being messed up is a huge deal, I admit. That's really the only reason this isn't going to get $1,000+. And I'll admit it, I wouldn't pay $1,000+ for this. But knowing what I know, I would happily pay $700-$800. And luckily for me, it looks like someone on eBay will too.
It's a great guitar that has been loved. And some dumbass routed the poor thing, badly. But that's not the end of the world, to me at least. It plays and sounds better than many Gibsons I've played, and it's pretty darn cool looking (if you can get past the little dings).
But I respect and understand if you don't 'get' it. I completely understand that. No hard feelings!
