I restored this 2004 SG Special. Pickups are Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1 with open covers.

This is a great guitar, very resonant and it sounds very hot

Yeah, between that and the metal pickup rings it really makes the guitar more unique. I never thought of metal rings and open black bobbins. Cool.

Being a Gibson SG owner myself I really dig your guitar with them cool looking pickups & the body finish, etc. The SG guitar is a comfortable playing guitar with great upper fret access. Congrats on your restoration.

The Vintage Blues '59 SH-1 set / Gibson SG is a very cool combo. My practice amp is an old PEAVEY Transtube Shieffield Bandit.

I upgrade potentiometers with CTS, right model . What' s the difference between those two models ?

Dish back is an older variant. If you want to feel your guitar has 'vintage correct' pots, knock yourself out. Electronically they're the same. Though some old Fenders had smooth back pots also. I've never cared enough to research dates when they changed. Smooth back gives you more space to solder grounds.

This looks so awesome. It makes me want to do more mods to my faded SG Special. I've got it loaded with a SD Jazz in the neck and a APH-1 in the bridge. I also added a phase reverse switch and now that I figured out what I did wrong with the wiring, I discover I accidentally grabbed a on/off/on switch instead of a 2 way toggle.

It sounds fantastic though. I'm thinking tone pros bridge and a set of drop in replacement locking tuners... Maybe also a Tusq nut.

Very cool. How's the balance? Most SGs I've played neck dive like crazy, but my '62 balances like a Fender.

Yeah, that's the main problem with SG's. I mounted the strap button on the top horn of one of my SG's. It helped a lot.
