My guitar's neck is broken.....

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

A few questions.........

1. How exactly is it broken?
2. Have you Taken it to a qualifyed repair man yet? just to have his take on it.
3. after going to a repairman (and getting his take, and a qoute on how much it may cost to fix), Is it worth fixing? or is it simply cheaper to replace the guitar?
4. How did you Break it anyways? (we all just like to hear storys :) )

answer these questions and some others will probably be able to be a tad more helpful. its hard to help with no information.

thanks, and good luck

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

I've rescued many a Washburn neck.

It's unusual for them to break, but they do bend sometimes, which is harder to correct.

When they do break, it is usually a failure of an inverted splice joint. I'm not sure whether all Washburns have this joint in the same place, I don't see that many.

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

at the moment, i want to know if i could change the neck... coz i really love this guitar

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

I think that your aunt and uncle need to buy you a new x50, and perhaps teach their kid the meaning of the word respect.......that's the craziest thing I've ever heard. That little bastard wouldn't be allowed within a mile of my house if that was my axe!!

my aunt said she would buy me one new x50 pro. However, this guitar is very special to me coz it was my birthday present given by my ex-gf>.<

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

Set necks are glued in so replacing it is pretty much out. We would probably need actual pictures to tell. He could'nt have gotten past the Truss Rod so it is probably salvagable. A luthier who knows what they are doing should be able to do it.

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

Yeah, depending on how deep and wide the cut is, a luthier/repairman should be able to cut a piece of wood, like a shim, and clue it in to the slot with a nice tight fit. With re-finish on the back of the neck, she'd be good as new.

All the more reason to ditch it and get a new one. Seems like you owe your cousin one.

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

Regardless of what any player tells you: ANYTHING can be repaired, it´s just a question of how much it will cost... I´ve re-necked Neckthrus and set-necks before, it´s very doable....again, just a question of the wallet.

I´d have to at least see a pic of the actual cut to say anything else worth knowing, though ;)

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

Ya i'm sure it could be repaired... i would think they would have to rout splines in to add strength to the cut area as well after it is repaired... But depending on how much you will spend and how good the tech is you use makes all the differenece in the world.

I have bought a few extremely baddly damaged Epiphones that were concidered garbage and fixed them back to playing condition..... they don't look pretty as i'm not that good at finnish repairs but they play just fine again..

I agree!!!

Re: My guitar's neck is broken.....

Let me guess, his parents don't believe in spankings, do they?

Trust me, I'd spank the kid with the guitar neck!
