my jazz duo live from sunday. zoom H4

Chickenwings

Alnico 6/8
My duo partner bought one of those little hand held zoom things so he tried it out at a gig. Its not bad even tho it picks up the sound of glasses clinking etc!
This is couple of the toons we were playing at a brewery in the wonderful winery town of mudgee on Sunday afternoon. We didn't use a pa or anything, just the guitar amps.
Its loose and fun. Mine is the thicker sound (i play the inital heads on "my heart stood still" and "stardust") and my partner is playing the sweeter more acoustic sounding seven string. We swap things around all the time. If you listen carefully you can hear me saying "whos playing what?" while john in counting in for "take the A train". We never plan stuff ahead apart from (roughly) knowing how the song goes. Its a lot of fun even tho it sometimes leads to train wrecks!
Enjoy.

I dig it. I could hang out in a bar all day long with that going on. It's great background music, plus I could always turn around and watch yall jam when I felt like it. Great musicianship!!

That sounds awesome man. Like Jolly, that would be the perfect music to chill to in a bar setting. Calm and collected, but still bad a$$ to watch you guys play those jazz chords and runs!! Good stuff!!

Really enjoyed that! The leads are very vocal and tasteful, improv on A train has a very symmetrical flow.

Laid back and expressive is the hippest way to go, I hear a good amount of Kenny Burrell in there, some Herb Ellis-esque interplay that reminds me of the Concord Festival recordings with Joe Pass and Jake Hanna.
