there has to be a lot of great amp techs in the LA area... i'm surprised no one has replied yet

Re: My Jubilee died.....

Did you ever pull the fuse out and check it? If it was overbiased and running hot, then dies with no power light, it's most likely the fuse. Then, rebias it, which I'll do for you if you want.

If it's truly dead, the Amp Shop will take care of it, but they're not cheap.
Also check a guy in Van Nuys....Amp Hole. Love the name!

Re: My Jubilee died.....

A friend recommended Bob @ amp hole as well - I am about to give him a call in a couple minutes. I think its the fuse too but I know little about this kinda thing and dont wanna mess around and f it up. I want either Alan or Bob to give the amp a total check up since its used.
Thanx for your offer and help GJ

Re: My Jubilee died.....

Think it's the fuse? Dude...take a screwdriver and unscrew it on the back panel. It probably smoked the little wire inside and melted it all over the inside of the glass. Then, go to Radio Shack and buy the EXACT fuse that's labeled on the amp. Pop it in, and if the amp powers up again, bring it to me in Chatsworth or the Van Nuys Airport and I'll test it with my bias tool/meter.
The amp is probably fine.

Re: My Jubilee died.....

Yeah I thought about doing that, but wanted a pro to give the whole head a look. Its over at Bob's now...that guy is the man. I'd recommend using him based on talking to him and who his clients are. He is good to talk to and has some great stories.
If I didnt take it to him I'd always wonder if everything else with the amp was ok since I bought it used and never had it checked or serviced. Who knows, maybe a resistor could be upgrade or a cap needs to be replaced? Bob's prices are good and came highly recommended from the guy who does work on my Les Pauls.
