My Les Paul Style Pickup roster

So, reflecting on the list of Pickups in Les Paul styles, I thought I'd provide a list of my 12 LP's and what is loaded in each. Glad to answer any questions about the why's of any combo.


Guitar Neck / Bridge (and a couple are triples)

Gibsons
79 LP (#1) = T-Top / Distortion
73 LP (Jaci) = DiMarzio PAF / Super Distortion
Budokan (Christine) = X / X / Super Distortion <= Neck & Bridge don't work, nor are they supposed to
Classic (Irish) - PG / Custom Shop PG 9k
79 The Paul - T-Top / T-Top
Studio Gem - P-90 Vintage Bridge / P-90 Custom Neck <= bridge pickup in neck etc...the PRS arrangement)

Deans (All played with Hollywood)
White - PG / Custom <= Main Hollywood guitar*
Pink Burst - Dean / JB <= Main Hollywood Guitar
Silver Burst - Distortion / Distortion
Cherry Busrt = PG / User Group Day PG 9k*
Tiger Burst = A2P / A2P*
Black = Dean / Dean / Dean <= Slated for a Dean Baker act in bridge
*Only these used to play Sweet Child

*amazed at all the pic comments - instead of pickup comments...at least in this room.

I do hate T-tops! That said - the one in the neck of my 79 just has a sound. Don't know if the pickup, that guitar, or the combo (probably this). It stays. I thought s for the about going to a PG for a hot minute and got over it.

As for The Paul - there are a number of threads here discussing what pickups for that, long before I got it. I just haven't got around to removing them. These days, they will likely find the new pickups, installation, and another guitar!

I've had that combo before, and it didn't work. For me, at least. The neck pickup was way too underpowered for such a high output monster in the bridge.

But I agree, Ace. You need some Black Winter action in your life!

I used to have a tigers eye ML, some sort of DOA anniversary model or something.... Should have kept that one.. think it was autographed by Dean Z, or maybe MABatio, I forget now.

Regarding Seths - I'm just not that much of a Vintage guy. I don't have a guitar or style of playing at all that would benefit from them. Think they are fantastic, will recommend them. But I don't need any.

59's are also awesome. Had them with a bunch of others - PG's, A2P's, etc etc...But for my personal tastes, I just prefer the DiMarzio PAF to the 59, and I prefer PG's to either of those. So while they take a solid 3rd place, might as well be 30th place. Again, do often recommend.
