my mistake

So this morning I brought my bcrich v in to school. But in all the Monday morning confusion of getting my kids stuff and football gear out of my truck.... I left my guitar in the back.....
It sat there almost 2 hours. It's only about 76 degrees out there but black case, direct sunlight.... Ohhhh man.

As I remembered it, I sprinted out there to retrieve it.. Brought it inside and opened the case up... Guitar was literally dripping with sweat. All around the controls and on the neck.... I assume wherever water was oil from my hands last... It was scary.

Wiped it all down and let it cool off at room temp. I hope it's OK!!!!

Re: my mistake

Rule of them. Let the case settle for a few hours before opening it. Never open it when there's an extreme change in temp. That could cause the finish to crack, even poly can do that if it's extreme enough. It should be fine.

Re: my mistake

Considering I left my POS Hondo LP in the car overnight in sub-freezing temps multiple times, and in the summers bringing it in and out of the house in 90+ temps to sit in the car while I was at work over a couple years, and if nothing happened to that thing, you don't have anything to worry about. BUt yeah, let it settle into the new temp if you can.

Re: my mistake

one time I left a bass of mine in in the back of my truck overnight and most of the next day while it poured the rain the entire time. of course it was in its case. it did not hurt a thing.

Yeah... you shouldn't have opened it until it adjusted to temp for at least an hour.

Re: my mistake

It should be fine. I'd just be grateful that it wasn't stolen. You can pretty much repair anything but that.
