My modded 2204 800 head

Re: My modded 2204 800 head

Please take a close-up picture of the mod from the input to the original first tube, including resistors and caps, and where it ties in to the board, could be valuable info! thanks!

that i'll do in the near future... i had to take the head to a friends work to get him to take the shots... i didn't take the chassy out... i may get that GUTS shot next weekend as i'll have to remove it anyways to get the cab ready for covering... all i got was a front shot and a shot of the back tube area...

Eminence Red Coat Private Jacks are their latest take on the Greenback, and they are 50 watt spkrs. I use them in a closed back 2x12 w/my Hiwatt, and they do the trick nicely!

my dream amp is a early and most importantly unmolested 2204 JCM800 head...

I can't wait to see it come back to life!

ya i'd like a 2nd one in better shape... they are going for crazy bucks... $1200-$1500 for an average one in Toronto now... in a way i would of been better off buying a better condition version but at the time i thought $500 Canadian for a working 800 2204 was a good deal... I have not put any money into it yet so we will see what it ends up costing me in the end... It was retubed by the store before i bought it. i have some Marshall covering i bought years ago i can use on it... so basicly i need the corners and some glue....

Then the tech charges to get it in perfect playing order... it works fine but crank that gain up passed 6 and it gets way too noisey for stage work... So part of me is sitting here thinking what good is a gain mod if you can't turn it up passed 6..... The amp hum and noise is there even if i roll my volume off my guitar...

I would think someone modded it because they couldn't turn it up enough... just a gut feeling...

Re: My modded 2204 800 head

the army camo cloth that is under the amp in one photo was what was used to cover the amp.. it was stuck on with 100's of staples... so many staples it has split the plywood in spots..

I can't figure out why it was stripped of the vinyl in the first place... if the old owner wanted the camo look why not put it over the Marshall vinyl.... Maybe one 0of those drunk night spure of teh moment ideas.. nuts...
