well, what's it been, a month since I posted a new ax?

anyway, I actually put this together a few weeks ago, but I've had to track down a wiring problem, and went through and got it straightened out this morning

pickups are APS/ APS/ Hot ...

white strat

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

NICE!! VERY NICE!! I am saving change to drop a wilkinson in my strat with Sperzel lockers. Awesome setup!!!

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

uh ... several :)

I like my custom strats more than the 2 Fenders I have, though ... for a few reasons. I enjoy putting them together, and they sound better with SDs than Fender pickups. I also prefer my own specs ..

I'm looking forward to my "anniversary strat" that I posted a couple weeks ago ... it's lightweight ash - 3 1/2 lbs - and being finished in a vintage blonde. Should be done in a few weeks. :)

54,
the bridge is an SSL3 Hot ... I still might try the TwangBanger now that I worked out the wiring. I used a gold anodized Fender pickguard to spot the screw holes. I'll have to use that guard, because I think the anodized aluminum is supposed to help shield things without the need for additional shielding.
As you know, a gold guard on a blonde finish was an early Fender scheme on a few guitars - like Gilmour's "001"

thanks, guy who invented

I know you've been looking at doing a strat project lately, and I hope it comes out well ... just let me know if I can help

I agree the color combo looks nice ... I was going to use a rosewood board neck, but this looks nice and the neck fits my hand well. The action is a little high, but I don't mind that for my simple blues playing! :)
the frets are big 6100s, so easy bending

and yes, the wilkinsons are great, and easy to install and set up, as long as I have someone else put the studs in. :)

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

Curly, man-you gotta slow it down! :smack: j/k Very nice!

Is it the Fender Vintage white like this? (#41)
http://www.fender.com/resources/colors/chart.html#

That's the color I've been wanting for a long time, but I don't see that the color is currently offered. Lots of Arctic whites and Olympic whites, but I haven't seen any for a long time...

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

cool, onyl thing i would change is the brdge is that a floyd rose? I perfer hardtails, i never use tremolos of anykind. Other than that thats a nice looking strat and i know, after al im the strat underscore master!

the Fender color looks more yellowish to me ... mine seems to have a somewhat pinkish tint in comparison, though it's not as washed out as the pics, due to the flash ...
I agree, I love the vintage white over Oly white, etc ... and they just aren't available on many newer models
lots of the older ones have aged into that nice "banana pudding" color -very cool looking, IMO

That's beautiful Gary, does it play as good as it looks?
yes! :D it plays well
I'll make some clips if my neighbors leave. :) However, the pickups are the same as my LPB strat.

it's a Wilkinson
I rarely use the trem, but Wilkinsons are nice when you want to use one. In the meantime, they are stable, and have good tone.

I just don't understand why anyone would need more than one electric guitar! I mean, they all look and sound exactly the same to me!

Well, you know...it's cheaper than collecting Hot Rods or Motorcycles! Safer too. Just found out that Indian Larry died recently doing tricks on his chopper. To bad...I always liked that guy.

I like Warmoth, thye make really good stuff. My strat is a Fender neck on a Warmoth body. I love the thing.

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

Looks *AWESOME* Curly, I've always loved white strats w/maple boards.

Building guitars really is an addiction. I recently took apart one of my Warmoth's and am in the process of ordering all new parts for it (just keeping the body, new neck/pickups/everything else) :smack:

Someday we'll get the help we need. (Hopefully not too soon though :13: )

That caught my eye, too! But that is a beauty of a Strat, Gary!! Beautiful neck.
Congrats on another fine axe!!

Re: My name is Curly, and I like strats

That looks like a great neck. Did you tint it? I actually like that interesting tortoise guard better on that guitar, which is odd because I'm a fan of aluminum guards too.
If you do install that gold one, stripe the bottom of it with electrical tape, because the only downside to aluminum is that it's prone to resonate from high volume in the room. It can translate into squeal or pinginess, but usually only with gain. The tape solves that issue.
