Re: My name is Curly ....

NEW STUFF ROCKS!!! especially lots of new stuff!!! LOL!!!

that's a great guitar man...i have never played a taylor that sounded/or played bad...my personal favorite has come to be the 415ce...i like the jumbo body...it fits me better and is a tad warmer while still keeping the clean sparkle that is the Talyor sound!!!

and their 12-strings....fugheddaboutit!!!!!

that I believe, Mike! yes, you are more of a jumbo type! :)

and, the 555 is a great 12 string - that model became the basis of the Leo Kottke model, 'cause he liked it so much

Re: My name is Curly ....

Frig me man, between your blue strats and tele's and this thing you've got some of the nicest guitars on the board...

I really want a nice acoustic one day.

Re: My name is Curly ....

Not meaning to hijack, but anyone care to quickly explain the differences between dreadnoughts and jumbos? :wall:

Re: My name is Curly ....

Curly, that d-28 is one heck of a guitar. one of my dream guitars is some "vintage" martin, basically anything pre-1980, prefereably pre1975. Too bad you are keeping that, but i understand why. I played a 1973 D-28 over the summer, and it was one heck of a guitar...

or i can just hold onto my d-15 for another 28 or so years

if you look at a Dreadnought, it has a more soft shouldered shape ... just find a pic of a Martin Dreadnought ... btw, they were named for a type of battleship (right?) because of their large size

a Jumbo might be as large in the lower bout, but has a little smaller top bout, and a more exaggerated waist - more of a figure 8 shape ... to me, the classic Jumbo is a Gibson J-200 - you know, the one that Elvis sometimes played :)

Re: My name is Curly ....

We had a 710ce come through our shop a while back.. it seemed a little too bright to me.

I've played a 414 and a 514 before though, and loved 'em... the Grand Auditorium body style really seemed to make a difference.

Congrats!
