My NES-tar project

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering why I don't post here ever so I thought I'd start.

I'd like to share my recent build the N.E.S. Guitar feature the almighty Dimebucker! This will be a quick show me and I'll answer questions as they come, if any.

I don't claim this to be an original concept, you can find these on the net, but I just happened to have a dead NES, all the parts, and a disposable guitar. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this.

The neck and body (inside the dead NES) come from a First Act Adam Levine Signature guitar that, can you believe, I found in someone's garbage?!?

It was a bit f-ed up to say the least, but after a serious overhaul, I managed to save it. After the dimebucker swap, it turned out to be a surprisingly decent player.

As far as construction, I just kind of winged it. I looked at others on the net and just sort of used my logic figure out how they were done. I didn't find much in the way of non-vague instructions and I was more interested in figuring it out for myself anyway.

The original body is inside the NES. The sides were cut off with a jig saw to fit. the only issue was that I had to shim the neck to compensate or else the action would be unmanageable.

My original idea was to make the existing reset button a kill switch but it was the wrong type of momentary. So in the interest of time, I just put one on it. Added a stylish handle for the heck of it.

All of the electronics are mounted to the door which can be accessed at anytime via the latch. I did add some weight to the inside

And at the very least, I had to make the power light work. It is powered by a 9v that is accessible from the back of the NES. There is a hatch back there that actually has a use now. I plan on making more with other consoles in the future.

Hope you all enjoy this!

See ya!

Nice project man :)

I have an idea about a bassist. She's a great member in every project as she can do everything from making a race car through coding the hell out of any computer to building any possible and impossible electronic device I guess.

You should put a mini Kaoss Pad in it a la Matt Bellamy.

yeah i know of jeri she's great! haha, i actually DO have a disposable bass AND a commodore 64...but i dont know if im ready for all that i could at least handle putting the two things together and then adding the other functionality later on...

Re: My NES-tar project

alas ive got too many floyd'd guitars laying around already :)

no way. those never helped anyone play games better and they will not help anyone play guitar better. but i would look pretty awesome with a power glove and some legion of doom shoulder pads! ha

Yes it will help you play better, Those guys are serious shredders, Oh the actual glove... ooops

Sure, Jeri is the queen of chips :) I have 2 C64II-C 'flatbed' models too but they work so I would not think of making a guitar of them just torture their old soundchips :)
