And boy does she purrrrrrr. I said that the 18 watt Dr.Z was the most shocking 18 watts on earth, but this Badcat is just as amazing. How do 2 little EL84 juice out that much tone? It truely is amazing.

I was really afraid that this little dude would like the Tophat I had (in a bad way) and could have issues with being too raspy on the top end, but it is really throaty and chimey. It really is a cool amp.........................now back to playing. I will say more later.

Bad Cats are great. My dad has a Bad Cat Black Cat without reverb and he can nail every single Lynrd Skynrd strat tone with it and much more. Great suckers, especially for single coils IMO (I have a lp, so I'm being unbiased).

That's one amp I'd love to have. I'm growing very fond of EL-84's lately.
I love how they sing, yet still sound big and clear. In the past, I always thought the lows were too weak and the highs too chimey, but now I know that you've just got to find the right amp, and have the right speaker in it.
Mark Sampson is the king of EL-84 design, since he started Matchless, Bad Cat, and Star. I still think the best dual EL-84 amp I've ever heard is Dan Bouhl and Pete Stroud's company 65 Amps. For now, I'm totally satisfied with my Gibson Goldtone.

I have to admit, I like Bad Cat amps more than a lot of others. I played a Hotcat 15 head on a 1-12 ext cab, and was blown away.

Gimme a chance guys. The Celtic is only gone for a time. I wanted another Celtic amp that would be a bit louder and now Scott is gettin me a 50 Pro ready.

Now you guys should be proud of what happened to the Z. I wanted to trade it for the same amp but head and cab combo. Then the guy i bought it from saw it and HAD to have it back due to sentimental value. So I did the right thing.

Then yall know what happens. You get $1300 eating a hole in your pocket and you see something you HAVE to try. that's what happend to me. And to be honest I like this Badcat better than the Z. OWWWWW there ya go I did it!!! I said the badCat sounds better to me than the Z. It's big bold and bites like a Tiger!!!! It is a bad to the bone amp guys!!!!

Glad you like the Bad Cat. I thought they were getting a little less love than other companies on this forum, but you may be able to convince otherwise.

Oh BTW even Christian will vouch for me that the Vibrolux is a keeper. I have sunk a lot of tlc and love into that amp. It still blows me away each time i play it.

I'm not really sure where people come up with the idea that 18-22 tube watts isn't "loud" .

I had a DST combo that was 20 watts out of 2 EL84s & my Fuchs ODS-20 is 20 watts out of 2 6V6s.

Both sound(ed) HUGE !!!

It might have something to do with the cabs & speakers, but they can be very loud.

As for the Tophat comment: you either got a turd or the wrong one for your taste. The King Royale is all I've wanted & then some!

Run thru my 4x12 with Greenbacks yesterday & it was pure friggin' BUTTAH !!!! :32:

ANYWAY....Congrats again Bro :beerchug:
