My new band - Strip Club

Give it a moment to load up and a tune called "Black Girl Wite Girl" comes up. It is an old Lords of the New Church tune we re-did.

Right side is my Strat, left side is the LP both are mic'd up with a 58 off my little Vox.

Re: My new band - Strip Club

I got a bunch or garbly junk when I clicked the link.. I could see the page, but the audio didn't D/L correctly. Once I opened the file in a separate window it worked. Don't know if anyone else has had this prob, but thought I'd let you know!

Liked the tune's old-school gritty classic rock sound. Kind of reminded me of a cross between KISS and Alice Cooper or something.

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Thanks guys.

Thanks Nightrunner, I'll look into it. It just broadcasts an 56kbps mp3 file so it shouldn't be anything crazy. It's a new host for me though so I'll have to keep and ear on it.

The singer does sound quite a bit like Alice and the early KISS influence is undeniable. When Ronnie was in The Throbs they did their album with Bob Ezrin who produced all the great AC albums, Ezrin thought as much as well.

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Rockin' stuff Scott. Love it! :fing2:

What are the plans for this band? Gigs? CDs?

That little Vox does a great job too.

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Well we already had to change the name!! heehee!

It's the Strip Club Devils now to avoid any confusion with another band that we apparently did not find when we did our research:smack: They have 2 CDs out and are a quite good alt-country band so we didn't want to fight over the name.

We're working on an EP for fall release and if all goes well we'll probably get over to Europe believe it or not. Man am I psyched for that.

Re: My new band - Strip Club

I'm a huge Lords fan. We used to do a different Lords song at every gig...Goin' Downtown, Night Is Calling, Pretty Baby Scream, etc. RIP Stiv.

I'd love to hear your version. But there's no tune on the site? Where's everybody hearing the tune? :smack:

Edit: Nevermind, got it working with Internet Exploder.

Nice and rude rocker my friend.. kinda has that late Nazareth sound.. and definitely some Mr Nasty styleamundo in there :D Super tight.. very good quality recording.

Very fun tune. Good job guys.

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Awesome version. You guys did it justice, keeping the raw Lords vibe. It's good to hear some rock 'n roll again. :bigthumb:

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Great Straight ahead in your face No Nonsense ROCK N' ROLL  Gotta Love it !! Sounds like fun stuff to play Live. Any Gigs ?

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Gigs hopefully to start early fall.In fact we may do a few warmup shows in your area Ken. Our friend TC now has the Village Pub on Wellwood Ave in Lindenhurst right near Musicland.

Glad everyone likes it!!!

Stevo I love this little Vox it can do damn near everything I ask of it.

Mixolidian - cool to find another Lords fan. That was actually done for a European Stiv trib that never came to fruition. We used to do Method to My Madness ages ago too. We'll probably cover a Dead Boys tune or 2 as well.

Sorry if I missed a post about it.. which amp is it?

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Valvetronix AD15 swapped out the stock tube with a GT 12AX7M. The tube change made a big difference in the amp voicing, it is now warmer sounding and a bit more compressed.

I also put in a Weber speaker, Ted made a great recommendation. For about $40 dollars worth of upgrades I have a great recording amp. I'll still use some of my other stuff but I love this thing to death.

I was gonna ask if you'd modded yours....thats an 8" speaker in the 15, right?

I listened to this yesterday Scott..sounds frakking awesome! I'm not familiar with the tune, but I loved it. Glad you guys will be playing some shows, me and the GF are gonna make a big effort to get down to see y'all (she's not a fan of our kind of music, but she likes going to the city and LI, :laugh2: )

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Dude, that song kicks major ass. :bigthumb: Talk about a throwback. It's got that cool old 70's rock and roll feel to it still but with a cool modern take to it. I hear the KISS influence all over the place. That right there is pure rock and roll. Nice!

Re: My new band - Strip Club

Wow more thanks, too cool and I am glad you guys are digging it.

The Vox is an 8" speaker Jeff. It's so easy to mic up even I can do it!

This was recorded into my Tascam 2488, the drums are V-DRUMS and the bass is into some digital bass amp into the board. Guitars are mic'd with an SM57 and the vocals are done with an SM58 Beta. Everything was then dumped into ProTools for EQ'ing and mixing. I'm hoping that all the new stuff comes out as raw and edgy, I love the sound.
