Got a free acoustic guitar w/ em from music 123, a washburn G30. I gotta say, for the price (free), its not a bad little acoustic axe. Plays and sounds allright...thinkin I might use it to replace my applause by ovation 3/4 size as a travel/beater axe. Take it all the places where my Taylor 310CE can't go ;).

But, yeah, I decided on a pair of KRK RP8's after tryin em out in guitar center next to a few other brands of speakers. Tried these next to some 500+ dollar yamahas, JBL's, KRK's, dynaudios...etc...and the differences were really marginal. These things sounded *nearly* as good, for quite a bit less.

Tried em out next to a pair of M-audio BX-8a's as well...I gotta say that I really didn't like those ones. Maybe it was just the pair in the store, but they peaked out wayyyy too soon, and the bass was wayy too flubby. Those were about the same price, 250 each.

These ones to my ears are real balanced...The highs are nice and crisp, and the lows are deep without being too overpowering. Very, very clear speakers.

My studio monitor GAS is cured ;).

That's what we use in our studio. Those are some real nice speakers, kevlar made! Nothing like some bulletproof speakers.

Thats actually one of the next things on my list. Got em and was like...****, now I need isolation pads .

Just looked em up...35 dollars aint too bad for four of em. I'll probably get 'em when I order drumkit from hell superior...that'll probably be a while though.

I have a pair of Fostex PM1s I plan to use on their side like in your pic. How'd you arrive at the decision to have the tweeters facing inward (so to speak)? I would think that since instruments with a lot of bass tend to be mixed in the center anyway, and since bass frequencies tend to seem less directional than others, that having the tweeters facing outward would be the way to go.
