And done....:bigthumb:

Alternating between the two speakers..

No it's closed. I just had the back off to photograph the speakers..

The Laney Cub 2x12 is open back though..& it's cheaper too. But this one's ply and that might be MDF (not that it makes a diff to me)...

All other things the same w/ the V30 2x12...

They're like Chalk & cheese to my ears which is what I was hoping for. The Emi one is "bigger sounding" w/ more bass & rawer/rauncheir mids/more spread while the v30 is more compact & in your face and more polished sounding. I'm glad there's such an obvious difference...cuz....options...that's what I like :bigthumb:

The Emi cab is also more sensitive to mic placement. With the the V30's you can put them (mics) just about anywhere and it still sounds usable :laugh2:

Eminence/Laney 2x12 cab again (Stereo) w/ my AMT Stonehead's "lead 1" channel. Soft rock. Delay/verb from the DAW..

^^ That was w/ the Man O War & Swamp thing (forgot to change that in the title) ...vs..this one w/ the V30 Laney cab (stereo):

And how they ^^ compare w/ my Peavey 6505 4x12 (2 x Sheffield 1230's + 2 x WGS ET65's) mic'd w/ a Sennheiser e906 & SM57 (stereo) ...Soft rock tune again :bigthumb:

My cheap Laney Camo cab after I swapped out two of the stock Laney drivers (They're cheaper no name speakers w/ little dinkymagnets not the Laney HH 1280's that come in the 2x12's) for the "Pulse PM12S " V30-type speakers I had in my old Laney 2x12 (in an "X" pattern). This cab sounded OK with it's stock speakers but nothing spectacular. I think the Pulse's are a definite improvement. I might get two more and pop those in as well. I was hoping to swapin the HH 1280's I have lying round but they're 16 ohms and I need 8 :(

Laney HH 1280's from my Ironheart 2x12 vs.the no name ones from the 4x12 Camo cab..

The Camo Cab now mic'd with my Sennheiser e906/SM57 (in stereo)

Ordered 2 more Pulse speakers after doing a bit of an experiment:

This is the Laney Camo 4x12 w/ just the 2 Pulse speakers mic'd (stereo). I think it's obvious that apart from slight shift in the mids & reduction in bass the only thing that the 2 stock Laney's are contributing tone-wise to this 4x2 is a bit of fizz (clip above) :laugh2:

Plus at $40 a pop these Pulse PM12S's are the best value out there for speakers these days imo. They sound pretty damned excellent & not just for what they cost :bigthumb:

My Orange Supercrush 100 does'nt get the attention it deserves, and it's actually another fantastic sounding SS amp, so I plugged it into the Man O War/Swamp Thang 2x12 :bigthumb:

Opened up and re-wired both cabs todays cuz I'd messed things up before. The stock Laney HH's were 16ohms each wired in parallel for 8 ohms, so they were both 8ohm 2x12 cabs.

When I wired the Man O War & Swamp Thang up I used the same wiring, except the new speakers were both 8ohms each which meant I'd wired them in parallel for a 4 ohm cab. I rewired them in series so it's a 16 ohm cab now (which is what I wanted).

Turns out whoever had wired in the two V30's (8 ohms each) into the new Laney 2x12 I bought had done the exact same thing

So I wired that one in series for 16 ohms too..

Always thought wiring cab's in series sounded a hell of a lot better than parallel...hairier, livelier & more 3D with sweeter/more harmonic overtones. This is no exception.
