my new martin guitar

Re: my new martin guitar

your image didn't post ...

you need to upload from your C drive, not just link to it

Re: my new martin guitar

i tried to upload it but it was too big, plus i am not on my own computer. should work now

Re: my new martin guitar

#93 out of 250 Huh? Did you drop a boat load of cash also like Mr Jeff did? Damn, I hate when I cant find a good impulse buy. I went to GC today also and I didnt find anything worth while. Just nothing jumped out at me and I was ready to drop some $$$ also.

Re: my new martin guitar

actually it wasn't much for a guitar with a serial number of CUSTOM 792599 and 93 of 250. jeff paid more i am sure

Re: my new martin guitar

well, I didn't find it in the 00s:
martin models
a bound neck and abalone rosette kind of narrows it down though ... maybe call GC if we can't figure it out

Re: my new martin guitar

thanks for looking curly, but it is a bit older, maybe 99 if i can figure out the serial number

Re: my new martin guitar

well, if it's not in your documentation, and GC can't help, then I'd email Martin with the serial #
I would expect them to give you a prompt answer ... I found that to be the case last time I asked for warranty authorization

other than that, bound necks are usually -35s or up models, but an abalone rosette is USUALLY found on higher models ... I say usually because I've seen some D-16GTs with abalone rosettes, I believe

let me just cut to the chase, though ...
how's she sound? :)

Martins are to be cherished, you know.

and I'm assuming you've already put new strings on, of course :)

Re: my new martin guitar

That is a sweet looking acoustic. I'm not a big fan of the dreadnought shape, so I really like the shape of the one you bought. Reminds me of the Grand Auditorium body style of the Taylor I bought, sans the cutaway. There is nothing better than an acoustic that speaks to you. Doesn't matter what brand it is...as long as you love it.

The Martins that I had the opportunity to play had a deeper, richer, more midrangy and bass tone to them. I would imagine that the body shape you have brings some higher frequencies into play. Let us know how it sounds and congrats.

Re: my new martin guitar

that looks just like it curly, i will be emailing martin just to find out. it is not a new guitar but it sure does look like it

Re: my new martin guitar

Two words for you on the strings........ Elixir Polyweb. It's the best $12 dollars you'll ever spend on your acoustic.

Re: my new martin guitar

I don't even need to see it. If it's expensive and says Martin on the headstock, you can just assume it's a better acoustic than 97% of all acoustics out there. Sounds snobbish, but just ask any tech or luthier what is the best acoustic company, and they'll say Martin. If you don't agree, you don't own a Martin....it's just that simple.

Re: my new martin guitar

"Martin 16 Series ....The "16" Series combines the simple elegance of traditional Martin Styling with patented D-1 Style structural improvements and represents an Excellent value in solid wood instruments. SP or "Special 16' models combine the affordability and technology of the all solid wood "16 series" guitars with enhanced visual appointments usually found on much higher priced models. Features common to all SP models include an abalone pearl rosette, scalloped X-bracing, abalone fingerboard inlays, 4-point abalone snowflakes on the wings of the bridge, a Style 45 Multi-colored back inlay strip, a compensated saddle, and a gloss finish."

Re: my new martin guitar

sounds right except for the snow flakes, it really doesn't matter which one it is i guess it looks great and sounds even nicer, especially since i put elixers on it

Re: my new martin guitar

I went into the store oneday and tried one of those martin guitars, and Me and my frend were blown away by the response and the tone you get from those accoustics, its huge and the bass response was out of this world. Definetly my favourite accoustic yet. I wish they did plug in ones of the same model.

once i picked this guitar up, i could say i could not agree with you more. it is truely amazing and like no other guitar i have ever played. it blew away all the new taylors and other martins in the Indianapolis guitar center.

Since i am finally home i will be emailing martin to find out everything i can just so i know it.

Re: my new martin guitar

although I've had 2 Ds for years, I've always felt the small bodied Martins were just amazing
if they can take medium strings, the projection is something else
