My new musical direction ala Roland Fantom XA

Re: My new musical direction ala Roland Fantom XA

I think in the last couple years, keyboards have gotten to the point where they're pretty much perfect. The Roland Fantoms, Korg Tritons, and Yamaha Motifs finally have all the organic and synth sounds nailed. A few years ago, they lacked sequencer hard drive space, but now you can store nearly an album's worth of material on them. I can't see how they could get much better?

Re: My new musical direction ala Roland Fantom XA

I've had two serious eyes set on a keyboard for the last year or so. It's been a terrible urge. I'd use mine mostly as background, something to put some tunes over the top. Have a long sweep with the keyboards real time controls, then for the next measure the guitar mimicking it via wah-wah. Or simply backtracks...because I've been finding myself drawing back towards fusion, which I listened to somewhat heavier a few years back. The possiblities are endless when you throw technology in with music.

BUT...

New amp...keyboard...new amp...keyboard...

...I just bid on a Mark IV. My changing ears require me to broaden my tones and, well, quite frankly, it blows.

CONGRATULATIONS, though!! I'm 100% envious.

I wish their sounds could be more real. Being a person who plays quite a few musical instruments and involved with an orchestra for some time, my ears can tell the difference.

This only makes me want a good keyboard more! I really don't think I'd like the rs-70 after reading about it more and more. Seems like it focuses more on the vintage sounds. I really don't think I'll be happy with anything but a Triton Extreme of a Fantom. I've gotten away from the piano I'd really like to have a good one. I just need to find a good used one.
