My New/Old Fender Vaporizer Amp....

Greetings all~ Well, I've gone & done it, again... I scored a Vaporizer for 'round 3 bills, loaded with 2 WGS 20w Veterans, & though the Vape mode is just a tad crisp & fizzy, the gain is fab in the normal mode!! My ONLY gripe is that there's practically no low end to the amp... I plugged it into a few great 12"ers, closed back & open back, & surprisingly no luck,...
So, great gain but no chugga chugga to it... Yes, it would be an easy fix with either a GE-7 or my Guyatone para eq on a soft 'q' & voila!!
But if one WERE to go under the hood, I'm certain that a tech could tinker with a few values. I haven't look at this one yet, & i don't perform mods!!, but typically Fender's PCB are a bit of a nuisance to get around, but again I'm no tech & I'd leave it in some trusted & willing hands.

ANY tips or leads as to what simple component value swap or two or three could get this done?? As for the Vape Mode fizziness, I'm equally confident that there's a tweak or two, as well as the option to forget about it.... I'll do a search for a schematic so I'll be able to follow along with any hopeful directives. As it sits, its got no UMPPHH,, & it's a heavy bugger

Many thanks in advance~

First off that is a very cool amp. The Pawn Shop series was supposed to sound quirky in ways, and if I remember correctly the Vaporizer was supposed to be the "surf" amp so the lack of beefy lows is no surprise. I have the Excelsior Pawn Shop amp, and half the fun is wrestling with it to squeeze different tones out of it. However, when I really need to sculpt tone with that amp, I use just that an EQ pedal. The fun thing is cranking the level on the EQ delivers some beautiful natural overdrive, some of the best in amp distortion I have ever heard.

I have seen many mods for my amp, but I have decided to leave it stock. I do not want it to lose any of its other mojo.

those amps definitely werent designed for the chug. im guessing you could mod it, but not sure how modern you can make it sound without a ton of work. the vape mode bypasses the controls so youd need to add something to bleed off some high end when engaged.

I had to look these amps up, and when I saw it, I remember. I think it looks fantastic, but I have never seen one in person. What else can you tell us about it?

This sort of seems like trying to mod a scalpel to chop down a tree...that things sound (in videos) pretty ripping, and I think you'd lose what makes it so cool by trying to make it a sort of half-baked metal amp. Of course, just my opinion, and you should do what you want to.

agreed to all of the above!! Mods be-gone,, EQ is effin' fabulouso!! I don't really truly see me switching into Vape mode, though it is a novel idea... Those EL844's took me by surprise, & even though I own a few sets, they're more for my 20w blood-letters like my Budda Twinmaster or my early 2000 AC30 w/1x12" combo....

the Vape's got some MOJO going for it...
and only 300 bucks & 2 WGS Veterans!!
thnx folks!! Win win for GC & Fender:bowdown:ॐ
