My New Pedalboard is Together (pic)

Well, staying up until midnight three nights in a row up (despite getting up at 5:30 for work, ugh) paid off, and here it is - Pedalboard Rev. (n+1).

pedalboard_p+1a_small.JPG

All wiring is connected inside the pedals, exits through grommets in the 1/8" aluminum deck, and is connected underneath. The recessed panel on the side holds input and output jacks and a ground lift switch to kill the ground loop between the pedalboard and the amp.

The layout is a bit crowded, but the Short Timers are on a 3/4" MDF riser to lift them above the front row. Access to all pedals is a cinch.

I still need to hook up the audio wiring inside, install the aluminum shielding in the bottom of the case, and mount and wire the 9 volt power supply. I can't wait to hear it; this is the latest evolution of the pedalboards I've been using for 25 years.

Awesome work, Rich.......you might consider hooking your bro's up with something similar for a small fee.

Re: My New Pedalboard is Together (pic)

That looks amazing.... very classy!!! You've just inspired me to re-do mine :fing2:

Maybe a large fee - these things are a PITA to build. I was going to put together a whole new one with all these pedals plus a Cry Baby, a Rat, Leslie control buttons, and a few extra switches, but I couldn't face it. In the end I decided to re-use the old case and aluminum deck (it was already drilled for the 4 Boss boxes). I had to delete a couple non-essentials, but this bunch of pedals is basically "my" sound, the others would just have been for fun.

The big advantage of recycling the old hardware is that I finished it this year - it would be next spring if I had to build it from scratch.

Re: My New Pedalboard is Together (pic)

Looks totally pro, and built to last. What does the switch on the deck do? Tuner mute?

Re: My New Pedalboard is Together (pic)

What kind of case is that? Custom built?

I probably need to look into another pedalboard. I liked having everything in one case before.

I don't mind using cables to connect the pedals, and I have a 1-Spot on the way. But I would like to be able to open the case, plug in, and play.

Pure Class & Style . . .

. . . the most professional looking board i have seen so far - very neat, no clutter no fuzz !

Congrats on a very stylish board !

PS, what do you use for OD/Dist./Fuzz ?

Yes.

Yes, I bought a half-dozen of these 12" x 18" cases custom built by some local guy in Philly years ago. I had some plan to start building pedalboards for people that never came to fruitition. This is the last one - I hope I sold the others at some point, 'cause I don't remember what happened to them.

Look for used turntable cases or DJ coffins (depending on how much space you need) on eBay - I've seen a few deals lately.

What is the signal path?
The first crack at it will be EQ->Chorus->Delay 1->Flanger->Tremolo->Delay 2.

Do you have any pix of the inside/building?

Guts pix on the way - I got the 9 volt supply built and installed last night. With blessings from the supreme god of kids-go-to-bed-early, I'll get the signal chain wired up tonight, and snap some pics before I close it up.

Re: My New Pedalboard is Together (pic)

nice work rich

i'm sure it will be even more rewarding to play that it has been to build

such a great, clean rig!!

what about OD/Fuzz/distortion ?

The GE-7 driving the snot out out my V1 12AX7 is all I really need.

I have a Rat that failed to make the cut due to space constraints. It's fun, but the GE-7 into a Marshall is "my" sound.

Re: My New Pedalboard is Together (pic)

Rich you gave me an idea..... somewhere in the basement i have a case that was meant to protect some sort of hightech gear in it.... a buddy of mine works at a warehouse that sells high tech equipment and sometimes they throw stuff out like these protective cases when the equipment is faulty... i should have a look at those cases again and see if they will work for a pedalboard

that's pretty interesting, no boosters other than an EQ.

sweet pedal board!
