My new PVX guitar kit

Re: My new PVX guitar kit

That's no huge tenon, that's a neck-thru!

Well David, now you can see the guitar that the 24 neck pickup from specials is going in. Despite it being a 22F model the guitar is only as thick as an SG.

I'm almost tempted to try that Crushbucker sweet heat I just ordered in this guitar too

The singlecuts are only as thick as an SG? That might be a show stopper for me :(. When I think singlecut LP style guitar, I want some weight to it.

Re: My new PVX guitar kit

They're a PRS SE type guitar. Maybe not quite as thin as an SG, but not a LP thickness (and the pictured LP is a Studio that is 5mm or so thinner than the Standard)

A couple more shots. Some detail of the binding....and just waiting for the lacquer to arrive.

Re: My new PVX guitar kit

Another box, but this time some Behlen nitro in a can.

Using a tip from the Stewmac site, I warm the tin in hot water. It makes spraying on cold days possible, and stops spitting.

Damn this nitro goes on thin. It also runs at the drop of a hat. Even a light coat seems to produce small runs and waves....oh well at least the world has sandpaper.

Colour seems to improve and change with the clearcoat applied. The brownburst of the stain becomes a tigerburst with the clear on there. The progress pic was taken near dusk, so is a little on the dark/dull side

Any updates on this sir? I'm waiting for your final approval before I hit the go button!

Looking Good Alex! By the way Behlen Lacquer in a can goes on thicker, and is less prone to run. You need a paint gun though, Keep the pics coming!

Re: My new PVX guitar kit

Could have sworn I put some more finished pics on this thread.....but no matter.

I've still got to have the final setup done.....I'd originally been waiting on a rewind of a Zhangbucker neck pickup and the arrival of an output jack before giving to the store for the bone nut to be shaped and the guitar set up. After I had the pickup returned it went into a LP to test it and now its back in. The bridge is a C/59 hybrid, with an A5 magnet to start with.
It will be in the store this week so I'll have news of how it plays in 7 days.

9finger - I know you were worrying about the thin nature of the body, but the guitar is really solid, and weighs just under 8.5 lbs. The neck profile reminds me of the LP trad+ I have (late 50's back shape) and it is quite wide at the nut.
