Hey guys, After several months of dead end job hunting I am inching closer and closer to another tire job, Had a really good interview, they followed up on all my contacts and seem really impressed. If I score this job it will pay 2000 or so a month, which is definitely enough to fund a rig project before next summer (when I plan to get a band going). So far Im looking at spending about 2000-2200 CDN on my new rig. I went to a couple shops with my brother, to scope out some of the hot new deals and talk to the salesmen about upcoming deals. I tried out a couple guitars from Ibanez, Dillion, Tokai, Godin, Fenders etc... and a couple amps, I tried the fender Deville 40 watt, Princeton Ultra Chorus SS amp, and a Traynor YCV20 aswell as the 80. I really like these Traynors, they are really user friendly, powerfull, clean appearance, and they really sound awesome for classic rock and even some 80s metal. Not to mention the low as hell price tag, I would feel guilty walking out of the store with an 80 watt tube combo with 2 celestions for less than a grand Canadian
. I also really like the new Godin Freeway classics, They arent H x H hardtails like I was originally looking at, but they are really nice for the money, and I absolutely adore the necks on them. I was amazed by the price on a higher end freeway classic I played today, $520 Canadian!!!!!!! What a Steal! Now, I know the amp doesnt have much in the area of high gain, so I will need to look into an effects box of some sort for the higher gain stuff. I was looking at maybe the Marshall Guv'Nor, Boss Metalzone, or a Pod. (There was a Pod XT pro rackmout in there for $450!!!!!!!)
So heres my plan for my first giggable rig:
1. Godin Freeway Classic Flametop.
2. Traynor YCV80 2x12 combo
3. Pod XT rackmount/Marshall Guv'nor, or Boss Metalzone.
What do you guys think?
Aswell, if you guys have any tips on some good beginner drum sets with a low price I would be glad to hear them. Thanks.
