My new Squier J5 Tele!

I just ordered this on Monday from Sweetwater and it got here yesterday! I haven't had much chance to play it, but I definitely like it, so far.

The stock humbuckers actually sound pretty decent. I might not even change out the neck one. But I've got a feeling my C8 will find a very good home in the bridge here. The build is pretty good, and the neck is straight. The frets need a polishing, but other than that, the way it's set up from the factory is definitely good.

It IS cheap! I can't wait to put some new parts into this thing, I think it'll be a real winner.

If by HSC, you mean hardcase, then no. I've already got an extra one for it at home.

And allllright, I'll take some more pictures, I suppose. But I'm not too keen on wiping it off! Lazy guy posting here.

I want one of those! Nice score!

Re: My new Squier J5 Tele!

Thats AWESOME!! I LOVE the body binding! Plus, Im really glad they didnt use the old John 5 headstock.. that was hideous.
A good Squier can be great too! I LOVE my Squier Vintage Mod tele.. I dont GAS for any other teles.. Well, till I saw this.....

Re: My new Squier J5 Tele!

Yeah, I really dig the binding too. I also wasn't a fan of that 'paddle' head stock. I'm not a John 5 fan at all, but this tele definitely serves me for what I want to do.

If other teles can be as good as this one, I'm definitely looking for a second one for my 'arsenal' I love me some teles.

Re: My new Squier J5 Tele!

If/when you remove the pickguard for anything, can you make sure it is a solid body? I have the horrible fear that it is a laminate.

I have one on order, and thankfully I won't get stuck with it if I don't like it. Hopefully it is the deal of the decade for what it cost. ($379)

I drool over teles like everyday... this looks like another great one. Sweet Guitar.

Re: My new Squier J5 Tele!

Well upon playing it some more, I can tell that the pots are pretty cheap and the guitar definitely isn't grounded properly.

But I've had $2000 guitars that weren't grounded properly, so I'm kind of just raising my eyebrows at the notion.

Too bad I have no idea how to solder or anything! Thumbs up for me.
