My Old Bass with 335 Rhythm tone

ImmortalSix

John Mayer's Mankini
Testing out my 70's bass, with lots of compression and woof.

335 Dot Studio for the clean and the accents --- the 335 does the solo at the end too, and it sounds JUST LIKE a Les Paul --- man, just like one.

Jackson JS20 for the crunch rhythm

Re: My Old Bass with 335 Rhythm tone

P.S. I know it's a boring church jam

It's a tone test mostly, dialing in a real fat compressed bass tone. Ideas for opening up the bass? More mids in the bass?

I am real happy with the "solo" tone, it's clean but has a bite and snap, and with the time-delay double (obvious!) it sounds really good.

like the solo tone. are those the stock pups in the dot?

Thanks --- definitely the highlight of an otherwise boring-without-vocals soft rock song

Yeah they are the Epiphone stock humbuckers. As a tone nerd and Seymour Duncan fan, I wanted to put something aftermarket in there, like a '59 bridge and a Jazz neck, but the stock cheepnis sounds so good I can't make myself do it.
