My pedal collection

Re: My pedal collection

Man, that trumps my collection, and I the only ones I ever use anymore are the Barber and the Chorus.

Re: My pedal collection

Wow that even makes Christians collection look weak!!! LOL!! sorry C!!!

Re: My pedal collection

Awsome stuff...and i thought that i had a lot of pedals. I really like the electric mistress. It kind of annoys me because it is so big and takes up a lot of room on my board but i can't bear to take it off because it sounds so good.

I also have the phase 90 and a like it but have you ever noticed that sometimes it runs out of headroom and distorts? If so do know what to do to remedy this problem?

Re: My pedal collection

Golden Boy,

MAJOR BIG UPS, for CS-9, the biggest kept secret in chorus world! Is that an original? I have the re-issue and its a keeper.

I reconfigured last night, and I added a L6 Verbzilla to the board a month or so ago.

I also have a DOD FX 65 Stereo Chorus that I use for acoustic.

Re: My pedal collection

Love the Captin Coconut, man I was saving up to buy one last year but got side tracked, then this year I had the money and what do you think happens.......Fox Rox stops making them. Now they cost an arm and a leg on evil-bay and I have yet to see one in a guitar shop. Why cruel world....why!?

Re: My pedal collection

If I see correctly, i notice an EQ pedal or two. If there's also a Tremelo, PM. I might be interested in a EQ and/or a Tremelo
I'm not selling any of them. ;) (Unless someone has an interesting trade...)

All those EHX pedals are like that. They sound great but are so HUGE. Some, like the Frequency Analyzer don't need to be nearly that big too, just a common case size.

I do notice a lack of headroom in quite a few phasers, the Small Stone too, but I kind of like the grind that it gets. There are a ton of mods out there for the Phase 90, I bet one addresses that issue, but I don't have a link, sorry.

I know... I'm thinking about his TZF Flanger, and it's tough. Serious cash outlay, but if he discontinues it the price will skyrocket. (Nice little business he's built up there.)

Re: My pedal collection

lots of cool stuff there. i'd go right for that DM-3 though, great delay!

-Mike
Thanks Mike. :) You know, I love the DM-3, great tone, but the delay time really isn't enough a lot of the time. That's why I got the Maxon AD-900, It's a MN3005 BBD delay, with 600+ms of delay time. The DM-3 kills it for oscillation, but for the longer delays it's a great pedal.

Yeah, that's an original. Except for the Barber and the TS9DX, they're all around 20 years old. The only chorus I've played that's sounded "better" to me was an old TC Electronics Chorus/Flange pedal.

The best kept secret in my bunch is the Washburn Delay. It's beat to hell, but it still rules.

Re: My pedal collection

Man I would love to play the original CS-9, just to compare it to mine, my new wet dream is to get another Laney AOR and feed both after the CS-9, RR style. On my re-issue those two outputs really do give different version of the Width/Rate knob settings, is it the same on the original?

What do you mean?

Are you talking about running each out to a seperate amp, and the effect of the controls on that?

Most of the time I only use it as a mono chorus- I haven't noticed any difference between the two outputs when used mono. What I HAVE noticed is using dissimilar amps (actually cabs) enhanced the stereo chorus effect.

Re: My pedal collection

Well my re-issue has an out(top) and out inv(bottom) I use the bottom one I like it better, I was thinking of taking to AORs and feeding them from those two outputs, CS-9 being the last pedal in line Y splitter of sorts.

Re: My pedal collection

WHOA! A lot of pedals there! You sure express yourself throught them!

Do you make a living as a musician or is this only a hobby?

I've done that as well- either using the Boss TU-2 or the CS-9 (the CS-9 works better having the TU-2 before it as a mute.

The outputs are the same on mine.

Re: My pedal collection

Scweeet collection!

I think we might be tied on phyiscal count but you've got some hipper stuff there! Lots of EH and a freakin' Captin Coconut too!

Do I see an EH Frequency Analyzer in there?! What does that sound like? I've only heard of 'em... never tried one.

Re: My pedal collection

Thanks. :)

I love EHX stuff. Definately my favorite company. The Frequency Analyzer is the best ring mod I've heard, it's so musical. It has a high end filter to remove the upper (sometimes harsh) octave and it has a blend control to mix the original and ring modulated signal. The tone is a very warm, round sound. It has two negatives, the carrier signal can't be tuned low enough to get to tremolo range, and the carrier frequency is obviously fixed. If there was a sequencer for the FA similar to the ZVex Ringtone, it would be an incredible pedal.

Check out this video for some typical tones:

Post a pic of your collection. :bigok:

Re: My pedal collection

Interesting clip...

Have you ever seen the 'Classic Albums' DVD on the making of Dark Side of the Moon?

There's a few scenes in there where Alan Parsons is sitting at the console bringing up solo'd tracks from the 2" masters... but there's one specific scene where he brings up some of the backing vox & runs them through an effect called the "Frequency Analyzer" so I started wondering if it WAS the EH box they used...

Sounds nothing like anything in that clip though... it was more of a phasey 'warble' that sounded like a demented phaser.

Anywhoo... A good chunk of my stomp collection isn't here at the moment. I'm working on a record with the band Swampadelica and I've got stompers at each of our various locations. It'll probably be several more weeks before they're all in one place again...

In the meantime all I have is what I normally use on my pedalboard & even THAT's been ravaged!!!

I totally LOVE stompboxes. I even use them while mixing!!! One of these days I need to invest in some PCP.

The 'Professional to Cheesy Pedal' interface. Lovely box.

Re: My pedal collection

I've got that DVD, I'll check it out to see if I recognize what he's using. My favorite part of it is when Gilmour is sitting at the mixing board and he solos and mutes tracks. I'd give anything to be able to listen to individual tracks from Dark Side, just to get an idea of how it all came together.
