Yeah, the Slow Gear is a very rare beast. I don't use it with a compressor, but I've developed a technique of simultaneous chordal finger picking that sets it off nicely. I put it in front of a Dimension C and a pair of delays for that Robbie Robertson atmospheric swell pad effect. It has it's own sound, but it tends to freak out as the volume drops, similar to the sound of a noise gate fluttering around its threshold, so I actually prefer a passive (Ernie Ball) volume pedal for that effect.

Mutron III !

Had a great night in the studio last year with a strat, a soldano and an original III lent to me by a bandmate. Had even more fun at lunch break the next day when I found there was a clav in the room. You know what that means...

Yeah...that means you played "Superstition" and "Maybe Your Baby" and a bunch of other Stevie tunes before you moved on to some Sly and Funkadelic...

That's an original mid 70's III, and it quacks like a duck...
