my pinch harmonic video

Re: my pinch harmonic video

Cool........ Do you use the back of your thumb? That's what it looks like.....it sure is fun to see how differently everyone does things.

it depends ,mostly if i play slow (not like on my first video) ,i play mostly with th "side" of my thumb.'cos i play with dunlop 205 ,a very small and thick pick.and i hold it really really almost at the edge

therefore it is really hard to use any other edge of my thumb.
but i feel comfortable:smokin:

Re: my pinch harmonic video

Very very very nice dude! I still can't get pinch harmonics down every time. I mean I can do them, but not nearly that consistently, and not that well. But then again, I don't practice them much and so I can't expect to be good!

Nice sounds though! Good guitar there.

thank you man i really love my peavey with the distortion on it.I love harmonics ,they are a big part of my sound ,and my "dream notes".So the pinch harmonics and a Whammy pedal are essential to ad some salt in the soup!!!:)
thanx again!!and as you see ,it is really easy to do it.you need just 1 day to master it

Re: my pinch harmonic video

I can do them, I can. But I can't do it over and over again, and get that kind of tone. Well I can't get that kind of tone at all.

I agree that with training, I would learn. But I also don't have a metal-oriented guitar or amp, and as such distortion is a rare commodity! :)

Re: my pinch harmonic video

yes harmonics are the best...to me anyway......my wife can't listen to me play because she hates the squeeling.......I love it though but I try to tone it down a bit ya know?.....I feel like with my squeeling I could be like the "Fake" over dubbed Petrucci and go into kill mode to kill people with them.

Re: my pinch harmonic video

i don't think i can "overdo " them since there are thousand s of ways to use it and make it.a deep one is more musical than many notes alone so in the right place and time ,a harmonic is godlike

Re: my pinch harmonic video

everything can be overdone, therefore becoming repetitive.

For example with your soup analogy, its a salt.

what happens if you add too much salt? all you can taste is the salt.

I like your pinches and i'm not complaining about your playing in anyway but i'm just saying pinches are like anything, if you use them too much they start to sound lame.

I see your point and i think the same. But you can make from harmonics differnnt spices and dressings tooo.It just don't have to be the main ingredient!!!

Re: my pinch harmonic video

Pinch's always sound great in solo's i think.

But in a rythem sense they can become redundant i think, zakk wylde is an example of a player who i think started off using them in a good way and then he massacred ozzy's old catalogue with them inp laces they sounded aweful.

Thanks again for the vid, i'll be doing plenty of guitar playing today.:smokin:
