My Rig 08

Re: My Rig 08

why are both heads on?

....amazing collection. but it would be cool to see a real metal axe in there, like a kramer/ibanez/charvel.

Re: My Rig 08

I just flicked the amps on for the picture. I arranged them for recording, so I didn't need any more cabs.

As for metal axes...my style is more like Bonamassa, Marc Ford, Warren Haynes, and Todd Mohr, so no pointies or Floyds. I still know how to shred, growing up an 80's kid, but bluesrock is what I do.

I see!

Re: My Rig 08

The Goldtone actually sounds really good, and has a tone that the others don't have....sort of a ballsy and gainier AC-30 since it's EL-84's into Vin 30's. The amp is actually (2) 15W amps running in stereo, with their own separate Demeter transformers. Sometimes, I wonder if this amp came from the batch that went to Joe Perry, just because of the "wound by Demeter" trannies and the low serial number. The main thing is the spacious reverb it has, which the 65Amps London doesn't have. However, you're right, I need a London combo!
The GAS really doesn't end.....I just keep it at bay.

I still have all the other toys you can see on my gear site, but those are all packed away....the Jubilee cabs, PRS's etc. The other side of that room is my studio. I spent the evening getting that room cleaned up and organized, and mic's dialed in for recording.

In my living room is the Vox AD60 modeling head on top of my Bogner 4-12.
That's what I usually play when I'm sitting around the livingroom at night.
The tube amps just irritate my neighbors.

Get a palmer speaker simulator. that way you can have the best of all worlds: your amp's tones, well recorded, at any time of day or night.

Re: My Rig 08

Joe that's some pretty shabby gear, I'm really disappointed with your choices.

I know I hate it. I want to go back to my first rig, circa 1983.

Where are the PRS's?

You didn't sell 'em did you?

One of these days you'll have to get everything together & take some shots like this...

^^^ That amber Les Paul = :32:

hahaha

I spent a lot of hours as a kid looking at Slash's Les Paul with the zebras but I can't say it had anything to do with purchasing that one! I was looking for a great used Lester & found that...

Jonesy has cooler guitars then me... & more of 'em!

Nope, still got'em. They're great guitars too, and I play them sometimes, but lately I'm mostly playing the 335, blue strat, and either the Goldtop or Honeyflame. I rarely play the 89 35th Anniversary Black Beauty, because it's worth $4000 and mint.....I want to make it a main player because it's amazing, but I'm afraid of messing it up.

Both are year 2000 McCartys. Zebra C-5/59. The other has my User Group Day pickup....a 15.3K Custom 5/59

Here's the other side of the room....the studio.

Notice the roadcase's lettering. I bought it from Coco Montoya at his garage sale for $25.

Re: My Rig 08

That's why I didn't marry a greedy gringa. I married a hot Latina who's only request is that there's no gear in the bedroom. Joe wears the pants....he makes the rules! I play nice guitars. She cooks gourmet. I planned this out perfectly! LOL

Then do it.

You can't worry about that stuff.

One of my good friends gigs with '60s ES guitars... like a '62 330 & '66 cherry block 335... a '66 Super Reverb. He's not a rich guy... makes carpets & teaches a couple nights a week. He always says you just can't worry about it...

Are you a player or a collector? lol All my stuff gets used... doesn't do me any good sitting around looking pretty. From a pure investment standpoint I'd rather have $4k in the market...

+1 dude... PLAY that Black Beauty. Don't tell me your gonna closet it?
Dude, you only live once. My good friend plays his '59 Standard. Lifes MUCH too short!

Screw that.... I play the hell out of my 62 SG/LP. If I go jam with somebody, I always take it. Of course, it never leaves my sight, and I'm a bit more choosey about who I'll hand it to :)

I'll often go swipe my dad's 60's Super Reverb, and treat it much the same way.
