After the first clearcoat and some 220 sanding. Finally got the grainy texture of the metallic coat filled in and smoothed down.
Next, the final clearcoats.
Notes on walnut: Despite the complaints about the paint, I have no regrets. I've not seen a piece of wood take paint so beautifully as this. The walnut is hard and very flat. The finish is becoming quite stunning. Can't wait til it's done.
I'll get some better pics today. What a kickass little guitar. It's got good heft and balance. The Fender OV pickups are staight oughta Bakersfield.
The guutar is quite lively and resonant. It sounds wonderful even unplugged. Not especially loud, but very plaesing.
Yup, that'll do. Looks great, man. Very similar to one I just recently purchased, actually. Though mine wasn't carved out of walnut right before my very eyes, so yours might be a little cooler.
My son is into, well, everything. Right now, he's in jazz choir and is quite the fan of that genre. I'm sure it'll get some country licks on it along with the pop, rock, metal, etc that he plays.
You never know what that kid is gonna play next. He seems to like everything.
