My Squier can pick up radio signals!!!

So yesterday I'm playing my Squier Strat through my Toneport GX on my computer, and all of a sudden, I'm hearing the radio through my pickups! I turn the volume down and it goes away, turn it up, it's back, though it was cutting in and out constantly. Kind of annoying when I was trying to play. Weirded me out. Anyone else have this happen to them?

The most likely culprit is your cable. You'll notice the next time it happens if you move the cable so its lying in a different shape on the floor it'll likely change/not pick up that radio station anymore.

Despite taking courses in electromagnetic theory, I can't say for sure its not the pickups, but I'd think its more likely the cable.

yeah something's gotten all antennaefied. i think everybody experiences this at one time or another...my friends and i used to think my buddy's 200 watt solidstate Peavey combo was just SO POWERFUL that it picked up radio signals...until he got new cables...

Yeah I had it happen one time on my standard strat and my ****ty old Crate 2X12. There are all kinds of invisible signals floating around I'm surprised we don't pick them up more.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's my cable that was the issue, it's the fender cable that came with my squier strat, not to mention I was playing around my computer, and there's a ton of electromagnetic noise around those things.

yeah i mean those skinny black Fender cables are good for tying people up or can make for a stylin substitute for one of those texas-style bullskull ties but most other applications are sketchy at best...

It can be a cable, it can be part of the guitar circuit. The best way to avoid, or at least minimize, the problem is to properly shield your guitar and buy quality cables.
