My strat is all messed up

The intonation is about 8 cents sharp on 3 strings and the screws at the end of the bridge dont even seem to have any affect at all. I know I am turning them correctly because I've done this a million times. Im not sure why this is happening so could someone help? Thanks.

It might be that the saddles are a bit too high or that you need to relax the truss rod a little and shim the neck.

Re: My strat is all messed up

first, a couple questions;
are your strings new?
is this a new problem?
have you checked the rest of your setup ... if not, go through your owner's manual or fender's online guide

again, do the intonation last, after you've checked everything else with the setup

another tip: make sure you adjust in the right direction

Re: My strat is all messed up

the only thing I can think of- perhaps as he moves the saddle forward and decreases string tension, the bridge moves back... if it's floating... and vice versa. in which case... stiffer springs in the trem?

but that's a HUGE long shot

Re: My strat is all messed up

The strings are brand new. I haven't messed with my set up in a while so I'm not sure when this all started. That Fender guide doesnt really help me much. I dont know what the neck radius is so how can I adjust the neck relief? I dont have a tape measure so I cant at least rough out the intonation.

Also, the bridge is pretty much flush with the body of the guitar because there are 5 springs in the back. I've had the guitar set up for 12's a while back and I'm still using them.

Put on fresh strings. Get the action height and trussrod where it's perfect for you. Using a tuner, fret all the notes on each string from the 10th -15th. If it's sharp, move the saddle toward the butt end. If it's flat, move it toward the neck. Retune the whole guitar, and move to the next string. Always make sure the guitar is in tune between adjustments.
