My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

I spray nitro in a booth or with a can. Dependa on how lazy I am ;)

About the hybrid question. Which hybrids are you talking about? :) they work wondrously well for me. Lets put it that way haha.

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

Oh. Yes thats indeed a koa top. Didnt go for the most flamey but the most unique looking top :)

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

I'm on the hunt for a super flashy top. how did you decide on the hybrid combo, and how did it work out?

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

I don't mean to be annoying but what hybrid are you talking about? I have the following

Pearly gates custom
Jazz 59
59 custom
Jb fullshred
Distortion fullshred
Patb1 patb2
Patb2 jb
Patb2 stagmag
Invader x2n

Which one?!

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

Jazz/59 and PG/Custom as used in the article.

it would be awesome if you uploaded demos of each of those though :)

I was also thinking of doing an Invader x2n. Dimarzio and SD have the same base-plate? How'd you pull that one off?

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

I have no adequate recording capabilities which makes it sound horrible. The pg custom hybrid is like the 59custom but with a bit more output, sizzle and fattyness. New york strip steak versus a texas bbq.

The 59jazz is lovely. Flutey, singing and juicy and if the tonepot is rolled down you get a bit more creaminesw going on. Like the antiquity meets the joe bonamassa.

The invader x2n required a new baseplate. I used one leftover plate of a tone zone and one of the Invader. I replaced the huge Invader polepieces with super distortion style inserts. Its a superhot screamer. Like a jb meets distortion plus.

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

very cool. What mag is in the jazz/59?

I'm building a koa toped, limba neckthrough with a walnut core. (24frets as of now...board may either be pau ferro or BRW)

what hybrid do you think 'complements' best for the wood combo? As far as output is concerned I want something that is naturally hot and metal sounding at 10 on the volume, but then dials down to like a jimmy page/hendrix/rhodes sound.

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

Alnico5 and alnico2 is what i prefer depending on the guitar...

59custom hybrid bridge band 59jazz neck. Lovely set. Alnico 5 bridge and neck for something a tad hotter or a4 bridge a3 neck. Well any alnico combination is ok.

Interesting. Not a fan of ceramic in the bridge?

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

Not sure... i think i like everything but I have mostly alnicos. I really enjoy the invadet x2n hybrid with the triple ceramic mags. I think I like the versatility of alnico. I use a8 a lot in hotter pickups in stead of ceramic.

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

I like to think that the pickup should sound and feel nice and good and that the hottness doesnt mean a thing to me. I dont need superhot pickups to get tons of gain.

same here. I guess the point of this PU was to have output modulation to go from super hot to clean. Kind of what I'm looking for but, that can be done with pedals and amps
